Intermittent starting problem

I experienced A sudden loss of power and not wanting to start several times last year. The trike would turn over with the starter, but would not start. I could hear a ticking sound under the hood by the air cleaner while this was happening. When the ticking noise would stop, the trike would start and run fine for awhile. It would never happen when I had tools to check it out. It never lasted long enough to find the problem. This year it started again, only worse. Had to have it towed in twice only to have everything working correctly at the end of the tow. I noticed that the odometer would have dashes in place of numbers. After 4 days at the Ford dealer it finally acted up for them. The dashes on the odometer indicates a bad ground at the ECU. It is located behind the dash just above the heater vent. The ground wire that was loose is connected to a bolt to the right. It is a thin black wire. T;)ightening the bolt that had worked loose.corrected the problem. Hope this information helps someone correct a problem that affected my riding for two years. I was afraid to get to far from home,so cancelled several long trips for shorter ones. Now i am not afraid to try some longer trips. Happy and safe riding.http://www.triketalk.com/forum/images/smilies/wave4.gif
