Installing an Adjustable Backrest Bracket

Bought a backrest with the adjustable bracket and thought I'd try to install it myself to learn more about my TG and save a few bucks for more important things such as gas.

Any particular helpful hints from those who may have done this already?

Such as do you need to have a torque wrench in inch-lbs to tighten the nuts and bolts or use common sense tightening stuff and use a bit of blue lock-tite on everything.

I'm assuming that if I follow the instructions and take my time that it shouldn't be too big a deal.

Thanks.

just follow the instructions and you will be okay. its not a difficult job. good luck

Couple of hints. The adjusting lever goes left (clutch) side about where the heat shields are. I used the lever bracket as a template, marked on the heat shield, and cut out a notch with an Xacto knife. The adjusting lever is now part of the heat shield. I've seen a couple of 'dealer installs' and they just took off the heat shield on the left side. kind of hatchet if you ask me.

Good Luck

My adjustable lever was placed just under the heat shield. Ok, once you get a feel for it. Also have my pigtail for battery tender on opposite side on top of heat shield. Love it there! Don't have to bend over and it's away from the heat of the pipes, etc.
