Inputting PIN number for security system.

Have a 2015 Freewheeler. Tried putting in PIN number so if there's a problem with the fob I can start the bike. Followed the procedure in the owner's manual. Tried 5 times with no success. Could someone post a procedure that worked. The dealer has been no help.

The procedure is covered in the owners manual. Also the dealer is suppose to show EVERY new owner on a bike/trike the procedure so they should know how to do it. They maybe hesitant to tell you over the phone but in person with proof that you own the bike/trike they should show you.

I've done mine a couple times just for practice so hopefully there are no surprises when it comes time to do it for real. I don't recall what the manual says but as long as the fob is not nearby, the input screen for the security code pops up when I try to start it. Mine worked fine the couple times I tried it.

Smart move, kinda like a fire drill :clapping:

I just set mine by the manual, now granted I was getting a little frustrated at first but I finally got it on the 4th try, I'm not that technical but it wasn't to bad, just keep reading it, must have read mine at least 8 times and then went thru each one and finally got it on the 4th time.

I may have to try it without the fob and see if I got everything down pat, has me a little worried it won't work, but I did as the manual said, never heard of a harley manual being wrong, ok, I have heard, never mind.

All for now Trampas

I you're wanting to input the number for the first time, take the bike to the dealer and have them do it. They have a machine and you can give the your PIN number and they can input it into the system.

I changed the pin when I bought my new '15 Tri-Glide. I copied the instructions onto a 3x5 card, followed the procedure and put the 3x5 in the manual pouch. Now I have quick access if I need it. No I didn't put the new PIN on the card.

This is what I used on my 16 Tri Glide:

To reset the code with a HFSM equipped bike (no button fob), you will:
1) Have your key fob near the bike
2) Set your kill switch to off
3) Quickly turn the ignition switch on
4) With kill switch in off position; will turn switch in and off twice then to
on (run, off, run, off, run)
5) Immediately press and let go of the left turn signal switch twice
(press, let go, press, let go)
6) Press and let go the right signal once
7) Current PIN number will be displayed on odometer
8) Change the PIN by pressing the left signal until the desired number is
reached
9) Press the right signal to cycle to the next number and repeat step 7
10) To set code; turn kill switch to off and ignition to off
NOTE: Steps 3 through 6 must be completed in quick succession of each other.

There is a Punch out card in the back of owner's manual. I copied that and put in my wallet.

PIN number change

I followed the instructions in the owner's manual multiple times and could not get it to work. My husband also tried and it wouldn't work. He then started the bike, shut it off, tried again and it finally worked. Good luck!

We got our 16 Tri Glide this spring, until reading this post last night changing the PIN had completely slipped my mind. I did it as soon as I got home from work tonight. Thanks for the reminder.
