Hi everyone, I was talking about converting my VTX 1800 to a trike and Smoken'JOE sent me here for ideas on how to do it myself and to look at what others are riding. But my wife and I have decided to change the color, install easy ride, fairing and front wheel so I have decided to bring it to a shop that can do all of that. I really like what I hear about Roadsmith so that is on the top of the list, but we'll see.
This looks like a great site and I know I'm gonna love the pics.

welcome aboard. sorry i can not help in the advise i'm a harley rider, but glad you joined us.

A big TrikeTalk welcome, Tribe! That is going to be a stunning trike :)

Wow that color would make a striking trike . Remember the trike has a lot more area and a color like you have would really shine. I have only seen a few in the orange shades and they are stand outs . What color will the change be?

Hi i have a valkyrie interstate with the roadsmith and i love it --its longer and wider than most and makes it ride smooth---it has ind.suspension --test ride one and others but i think you will like the roadsmith alot --i do --GOOD LUCK

Welcome from the Great State of Texas! We ride a GW1800 CSC, but I love the color of your VTX and agree that it would be a really good-looking trike in that color! Glad you found us; keep us posted on your progress!

Welcome to the site Tribe. Good folks here that are willing to help. I just recently converted to a trike myself and I am loving it. Also: From one Nam Vet to another...WELCOME HOME BROTHER!!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. The VTX (V Twin Extreme) 1800 is an amazing machine and I'm sure it will make an amazing trike. I agree that the stock color "Candy Orange" would be stunning but I'm ready for a change. I have always liked Candy Apple Red so that's the way I'm heading, with a Roadsmith and a Woodys Fairing. I'm also returning to the stock exhaust, nice and quiet for listening to the stereo. The guy who usually does the wrenching on my bikes gave me a price of approx. $600. to $700. labor for the conversion...can't beat that with a stick!!! So while he has the tins off for the paint I'm gonna let him install / hide a Stebel air horn somewhere along with an HID..

He is also contacting Roadsmith to become a dealer and he is going to split the cost difference with me! Before you start thinking this guy is too good to be true, here's a little history...His father and I were friends back in the day, we shared some good times and more than a few drinks. When I accidentally found mike had grown up to own a bike repair shop nearby it was a no brainer to give him my business. He's a great wrench and a great guy. Sorry it took so long to get back but I have been doing a lot of reading and learning here plus trying to keep this project moving forward. Take care...I'll keep in touch.

Hey JOE...Thank you...It certainly was...I sure will...I plan on it.

Shiny side up :beerchug:

Candy apple Red is so much more common than you might think Orange on the other hand is rare

Maybe think about a Candy Orange?????????????
House of Kolor Speedshapes - Preperation & Undercoat

But I still think Candy Red is awesome............

Ha! So do I Joe. As I said, my 2003 color is called Candy Orange by Honda but I doubt it is truly candy, but it is an awesome color in the sun light, with quite a bit of flake in it. I'm gonna do some homework on this

Thanks for the color chart.
Too many decisions................:AGGHH:

I did mine myself, as u can see its orange, need a hand let me know you're not far from me. Any excuse for a ride.

Thanks Jonsey but since my guy is only going to charge me around $600 I'm gonna let him let him do it plus connect the air horn and HID unit.

But that said, once it's done we can hook up half way somewhere. Like you said, "Any excuse" ;)

Tribe, John L. from Torrington, Ct. area has get togethers we can meet up at one of them. The bike flea market at Rhinebeck in June is another opition.

Tribe, have you guys looked at the hard lowers yet?
Going to put mine on today. Weather finally warmed up a touch.

Hard Lowers for Honda Motorcycles

No...I never heard about them until now. Do you know anyone that has them? If they work like they say, it would be worth it for the colder / wetter days. Do me a favor and post a pic as soon as you get them on; if I like the way they look on yours I'll order them right away so they can be painted along with the Roadsmith. I'm assuming you had yours painted already.
I did add the "Freedom Wings" to the Woody.

Thanks Joe...good lookin' out ThumbUp
