I hope it's time

On June 20 I started a thread "Is it time?" and many of you replied with encouraging words about triking. Most all said -do it you will love it !
I sure hope you were right because I'm getting off of a plane Tuesday in Birmingham, Alabama and getting on a 2006 goldwing with a Lehman kit.
Will be riding it to our summer home in northeast Ohio. It should be entertaining to say the least because I have never ridden a trike(been two wheeling for near 40 years). Yes I know this probably wasn't the wisest move I ever made but this kind of stuff sure keeps life interesting!

Now I need important advice from you- can ya'll tell me what I need to pay attention to and learn (or unlearn) quick so maybe I can get home alive?

Congratulations Deadeye.

I did the same several years back after about 45 years of two wheeling.

Don't fear...you'll find everything comes natural from your prior experiences. You'll need about 10-15 minutes to figure out the "turning, not leaning" and you're good to go.

Just remember that you're a lot wider. Best rule of thumb is to stick your arm out...that's about the width of the trike. Keep that in your mind and get no closer to curbs, walls, etc. That's also how you judge the highway center line and the berm line.

I can tell you that after the first 15 minutes, I was tooling around like I'd been doing it for years. The old "push right...go left" on the bars just come so natural after the years of riding.

All that said, I had to avoid becoming overconfident until I "knew" what the trike was and was not capable of.

Good Luck,,,Don't Fear...Ride Safe, and above all ENJOY!

Do not put your feet down when you come to a stop. You might run over your own feet when you start up. Several have done it. Do some parking lot pattern work before you hit the road.
