50 and have been riding 2 wheels since I was old enough to ride on the street. Been riding 3 wheels since 7-08. I still ride 2 wheels but only ride 3 with the wife two up. I just can not trust my legs after having back surgery not go too well, at least I am still in the wind!!!

Interesting thread, I'm certainly not the oldest (God bless all of you) and glad to hear I am farther away from the youngest then I thought.

I'll be 50 this July, and my wonderful wife of 25 years will be 48 next month (oh, yea, that reminds me, note to self, get card/present).

This is our 4th and final H-D. Decided this would keep me upright better than the rest, hehehehe, actually, the wife has a disability, ME! HAHAHAHAHAHA So we figured this would keep me from being stupid anymore. Been riding since gas was 37 cents a gallon and almost killed in 83'. I'll stop riding when I can no longer find the keys.

I'm 48 in good shape no medical issues what so ever. I still have a sport bike and a sport tour 1300. I kind of stumbled into the trike thing as a fluke I borrowed one as a joke with the wife and you know what... she'll ride all day long on it. She can see over my head on the trike and loves the music and the heated seats on the Honda Gold wing ( Champion IRS ) We have done as much as 700 miles in a day and it's just plain fun for her. If I am alone I still love two wheels and I was on really windy roads on the trike and was pooped out after being on the thing all day... But, Highway hauling... it rocks!

I guess my guy and I are the "newbie" riders. Neither one of us had ever ridden a street bike before. He bought his Victory Vision Crossbow trike last spring, and I met him and started riding on the back last September. We are absolutely in love with riding! He's 64, retired on disability for a few years -- knee replacements -- so the trike is easier on his knees. I prefer the trike, feels safer to me. I'm 53 and a freelance writer who works from home, so we are out riding almost every day.

I have to get a picture up of the trike. It gets a ton of attention, since it seems to be one of the few Victory Crossbow trikes here in Arizona. Most people have never seen it before.

If you see this month's copy of Quick Throttle magazine, look on page 5. His trike was used for a Make-A-Wish ride for a kid. That's us on the top left of the page.

Both of us are 48. I have been riding 2 wheels sense I was 12. Then at 21 had kids and gave up riding street bikes. Last year my wife saw a HD trike and said she would ride on that, she has a bad back. 2 weeks later we bought a 2012 HD trike. We love it, but I still want a 2 wheeler to ride alone.

38. Been riding off and on for about 15 years. Was injured in Afghanistan last year so I traded my street glide in on a trike so I would have the added stability of the 3rd wheel so that my wife and I could continue to ride. I love my trike. Makes me wonder why I didn't get one sooner.

My wife and I are 58 and both ride the Tri-Glide. I started riding again a couple of years ago after a 25 year absence, as I would not be too stable on a two wheeler.

68 an got my first trike in Sept an have 20,000 miles on it an rode a total of 100,281 miles this yr an last yr it was 72,820 miles with a life time total motorcycle miles of 1,581,000 miles
Hisst

I am 35 and wanted try trike instead of 2 wheeler...and i did like it alot...same goes for my wife...we plan to take the trike to italy next year...

Just turned 65 afew days ago and am enjoying a great winter down here in Tucson, Az. Rode the trike down from northern Colorado in late October and ride most everyday. (Mostly because of some positive advice from some great folks here.)

If this is two questions, I'm in my mid 20s (the way I act) to the first and 60(the way I feel) to second one. I am 60 really but you would never believe it the way act. People are always telling me to act my age.

Well, 6 pages, and 80 responses can give us an idea of who is riding a trike and why. If you answered with a spouses age, I counted it. We have 2 people under 40, 10 in their 40's, 24 in their 50's 38 are 60ish, and 6 grand gentlemen over 70 still riding. The bulk of trikers (83%) are on 3 wheels because of health or injuries. I included the 70's into this category even if they didn't say something directly. Again, most (me included) have been on 2 wheels a very long time before growing the 3rd wheel. Only a few admitted their trike was their first bike. I should have asked the mileage on their scoots, that could have given us an idea of how much riding we are actually doing. My wife and I rarely use the cars, the weather in SoCal is great year round so we have very little down time. Really wouldn't be fair to you 'nor-easters' who have a limited riding season.

Anyway, ride those trikes in good health, for us 'oldsters' keep on having fun!

Hi guys. I'm 64 this year and my wife is 58. Haven't moved to trike (or sidecar yet) but will be doing so within the next 12 months. I have the usual complaints of anyone riding for a lot of years, most of my injuries are from more than 30 years ago. I am still recovering from a fall in the wet in November, just a bit of inconvenience now, will heal.
I have never driven a car, so want to be mobile forever. Hence my foray into 3 wheels. Would feel more confident carrying my wife long distance on 3 wheels now.
Our favourite memory from the old days is drinking a bottle of Countreau, eating a bucket of Ice cream and then taking off on an old XS650-2. When we pulled up at the Stop sign we fell off. Like I said, it was in the OLD DAYS!
Good luck to all,

Just turned 52 and just recently got into trikes, but I still love two wheels (in the blood as they say) - track days on my Aprillia RS250 (used to race proddy 250cc 2-strokes), classic runs on my Ducati 888 and touring with the wife on my Kawasaki GTR1400.

My wife and I generally try to do a European tour every 2 years and rack up around 3000miles, and after seeing a couple of trikes in one of the German motorway service areas I was swayed to take the challenge of designing and building a trike myself. 14 days in a 2wheeled saddle takes it's toll on the body and I'm hoping the comfort of the trike will provide the same freedom and open air enjoment, but with the added comfort.

Thanks Screwball for compiling the figures. I think that's interesting & tells alot about us!

I am 59 still on two wheels my first bike was a Sears Allstate when I was 12 and have had way to many to count since then. We have 5 right now counting my wife's trike which she had to go to after 20 yrs on 2 wheels because of medical issues, she loves it and would never go back.

Since this post I have purchased a trike for myself as well, 02 EGC, Motor trike conversion, 95" kit, and ez steer. I really like it a lot. I still have my Street Glide for my 2 wheel fix, but I think the trike will get more miles this year.

I'm 68, wife is _____. Been riding scooters for a long time (yes, scooters - those annoying little things that go "buzzzzzz") but can't do longer trips on them so wanted to go to something bigger and more road/trip friendly. Wife can't handle the bigger 2-wheelers so went with the trike. Now we can go as far as we want, we can go together and we can both enjoy the wind and the road. Still have the scooters but we are enjoying the trike immensely.

63 and holding on to those younger memories is why I triked my bike. After 2 major wrecks on 2 wheelers in the last 3 years I decided to put TRAINING WHEELS on as these plastic knees wont hold up the bike anymore and I wont quit either. My wife says Im a slow learner. LOL

I just turned 59 on Feb. 2nd. I had my shoulder surgery on my birthday! As soon as I get back into shape, I'll be buying a trike. Been riding for over 40 years and am going to a trike due to back and neck difficulties.
