How did you solve the heat problem on your scoot?

Well, I feel the heat on the right side when I'm stopped which is normal in my opinion. I have added floorboard extenders so my foot and leg stands out more from the motor, and I use the highway pegs while cruising. Like I said I feel the heat mostly when stopped.

I got rid of the cat on mine, made a huge difference.

Wife always complained about her right foot being hot before, but not now that i have removed the cat.

Went with V&H true dresser duals

Exactly the same as I have done.

replaced the old head pipes and mufflers to rhineharts true duals. (which got away from the cross over pipe.) installed the le nails fan for slow traffic . time will tell if it has all helped.

removing the Cat helps, going with a better exhaust helps, retuning alittle richer helps, and riding with the feet on the Highway pegs help. But, you will always have that Heat on the right leg...................:gah:you are not alone..

Stage 1 upgrade, Cat less with rush true duels, That solved the heat problem for me..
Did that back in 11, So I had at least 2 summers with that setup....ThumbUpThumbUp

Other than going to a water cooled trike, how did you solve the burning thighs problem on your scoot, and would you recommend it to others.

Never had a problem with burning thighs myself, but my wife was uncomfortable, and I knew the engine was not holding up well to the excessive heat...so rather than protecting my thighs from the heat, I decided to get rid of the excessive heat-

Here's a thread on what I did on my 2011.

I am very happy with how it turned out and we made a lot of great, comfortable, memories on that bike. Just last week we got a waterhead (2014), but it was not because of any heat issue...had that resolved on the 2011.

Buy a Goldwing. You'll never even know that pipes actually give off heat. Or... keep pumping thousands into your Harley.:Dorag:

I picked up this under seat heat deflector off E-bay From HARLEY HEAT SHEILDS for $45.00.
Nice thick leather well made and fits my trike to a tee.ThumbUp
I sent him info on make, model, and year. Was hand made and delivered in a reasonable time also.
The owners name is Tim Sloniger.

Installed my Captain Itch leather heat shield today. Although it wasn't a really hot day here, I rode around for a couple of hours and felt no heat on my right leg. When I got home I felt the leather and the right side was quite hot, so it kept all that heat off me. One small step in reducing heat on your right leg, and it looks pretty cool too.

I've tried several things. The latest things I did was install XIEDs, de-cat the head pipe and installed Ward's fans. This helped more than anything I could have done other than trading. I installed a temp sensor in the oil pan and put the oil temp gauge in the dash. My oil temps never go over 235 degrees even on hot days (normally about 205), that is if I don't forget to switch the Ward's fans on. I did install the thermo switch on the right side of the rear jug. It comes on when needed and goes off when not. I do switch it off if I'm pumping gas, sometimes I forget to switch it back on.

I had the exhaust ceremic coated, inside and out and also had the Cat removed.$310.00 for the coating and $100.00 for the cat removal. The exhaust came out looking like they had been chromed, but i still put the original HD heat shields back on.This has reduced the heat by about 75%, when riding, but its still hot when sitting at a set of traffic lights. The day I tested it was cloudy and threatning to rain, so I will have a much better idea on a very hot day.But so far it looks like it was money well spent.

On my 2012 TG I added a "crotch cooler", floorboard extenders and had the customary mufflers/A-C/ tune done due to the posts here. It was, in my opinion, unnecessary. On my 2014 I can't put on the floorboard extenders and I will not spend the money for the other customary items because I don't need them. As I said on other threads, I believe I have a higher tolerance for heat then most people so I don't "feel" the heat - lucky I guess. :)

Haven't road as a passenger so I don't know how the heat is back there. I just road in the Rolling Thunder parade in DC and didn't have a problem. If you don't feel the heat problem riding with 500,000+ bikes slowly on city streets - then you don't have a heat problem. :D

I guess I'm one of the people that isn't spending thousands of $$$ on my TG.

Ya but then you have to roll over in the morning and look at it, Woof!

On my 11 triglide, for radiant heat the 2 best things i did was wrap the exhaust header & move the floor boards out. For oil temps, the best thing i did was remove the thermostat in the oil cooler.

Solved mine with a TTS by the Wiz and doing a 1.5 inch tank lift to get more air on top the engine. Runs so cool now that I took the heat deflectors off. No more scomfort at traffic lights in the summer even without deflectors.

I'm still think about buy a New Harley trike. But I've rode Harley's in Arizona. ( not trikes) And believe me even 2 wheeler s get HOT at stop lights. Even back home here in Minn during the summer months it can be an issue. So why is there so much difference on Trike's ? Or is it some can take it & some can't ? I have a friend from Illinois that I ride with in AZ. They both said that even there 14 Tri Glide gets HOT at stop lights. ?? OK just asking why ? Thanks:Dorag:
