Just brought home our '03 GL 1800! She has all the connections for headsets, but I don't know what to get or how complicated they are. Anyone have any help? Thanks!

I don't know how Honda headsets are, but Harley headsets leave a LOT to be desired. Get the Elite headsets from J & M. Well worth the extra money!

J& M are good and I have 2 sets, that came with my wing. I also have 2 sets of Ed sets, and I personally like them better because I wear a 1/2 helmet. The Ed sets allow you to up plug the headphones, and I run all my sound, MP3, & CB through the speakers. I also have a set of IMC's that hook up to the family radios and they work well also. With the Ed sets if I need to run the Cb into my ear I use a normal set of ear plugs but only use my left ear. OR at least that's the plan, if I needed it. I mounted the mike on Velcro to my Helmet, so when I am riding and do not need the CB, I can take it off and store it.

Whatever you buy look for something modular, that you can replace broken components. Also buy from one of the companies that will be around.

The first thing you will have to do is determine what headset(s) fit your helmet(s)

I have a inexpensive Bell Shorty with I just installed the Elite 584 with the appropriate lower cord.

I have a very expensive full face Shoei RF 1100 which will not take the Elite headset so I had to install the Performance model.

J&M makes great head sets and their customer service is 2nd to none.

Before buying anything, I would check with them. Naturally I had to get two different types of lower cords as well, but what I have works well. Saturday, I was talking to a trucker who said he was well over a mile away. That is awesome.

J&M headsets will work fine in Shoei helmets if you use thinner speakers:

You'd need to purchase 2 for each helmet

J&M was the supplier of headsets to Honda. Don't know if that's changed yet or not w/the end of the Wing assembled in the USA.
Here's a link to someone that can answer any question you might have on Honda Audio/CB/CD systems and headsets, including what to do to get rid of the constant intercom noise since the mics are live all the time:

Not so fast. I asked aobut these for my Shoei RF 1100 when the top of the line ES 584 would not allow my head into the helmet. I spoke personally with Mr. John Lazaroni (probably just butchered the spelling of his name) and as much as he would have liked to have me keep the elite headset (it costs more) He swapped out the ES for the Performance model and this fits well.
I have the Elite HS 584 in my Bell 3/4 length.

J& M has a set for $66.00 thru Honda Goldwing Motorcycle Parts and Accessories . Check it out tell them they are for a Goldwing . The next thing is you have to fig. out is what buttons to push to make them work with CB and radio also the mute must be adjusted, Not hard I am not familiar with the 1800 set up.

Hope the information in the answers helped you. If you have a goldwing you already have most of the wiring you need. Of course, you will need helmet headsets. As I mentioned before, check with your supplier (I use J&M and they are terrific) to make sure you get the headset and the appropriate lower cord for the helmet(s) you have. (why they don't make a one long cord gets to me) Of course they want to sell you more. The lower cord plugs into the built-in cord on the wing. Then you can use the buttons on the radio to determine what system you will be using. Intercom, FM radio (two sets) AM radio or weather band (3). I have an MP3 player on my Garmin GPS so I listen to my tunes on the AUX setting on the radio.

I also have a CB and this when speaking will override all other audio except the directions on my Garmin. I learned the system in about 4 years and one day.

You should beat me by 4 years.

WingStuff is having a great sale on J & M's HS8154B headsets, listing their VIP price of $57.74. They work on both the full and open face helmets and only use 1 SINGLE CORD!!!!:D We've been using our on our 06 Goldwing trike for weeks and LOVE THEM. The audio is great in both the radio and intercom. Can't tell you anything about the CB as we haven't hooked that up yet. Some of the reviews claim that the audio is not quite as good with the CB, but for us that in not an issue at all.

Here's the site. J&M Goldwing Helmet Headset HS8154B Open/Full w/1Piece Cord SUPER SALE - Honda Goldwing Parts and Accessories
