I have been researching helmets on line and the more I read the more confused I get. Many riders complain about wind noise, whistling/water penetration. It doesn't seem to matter the cost of the helmet. I assume that these reviews are written by "two wheeler" riders. Do helmets worn by trikers tend to be quieter because of the windshield? There is a wide range of prices/models/manufacturers, so will someone recommend a suitable helmet?
Thanks, Gerald

Go to a motorcycle shop that has a lot of helmets on display. Talk to a sales person on what you want in a helmet. Do you want a 1/2 helmet, Open face (AKA 3/4 helmet or a "jet' helmet) or full face solid or full face modular? Some are pretty simple, some even have retractable sun visors built in, along with other accouterments. Different brands, and even different models within a brand fit different shaped heads best. Wear the helmet you like for at least 20 to 30 minutes to find if there are any tight spots or uncomfortable spots in the liner.
As for pricing, that can be all over the map. We start thinking the cost is OK when we don't immediately say "Holy Crap!" when looking at the price tag. Our favorite dealer has lids from a $45 brain bucket to full face, full graphic, high-zoot racer boy replicas for upwards of $500. We also prefer 3/4 helmets - we used to have "Chips" style half helmets but they didn't work well with the intercom.
Oh - light color helmets are cooler on those sunny hot days. I have a black helmet with intercom for the Wing with lots of ventilation. On the Harley I wear an old school silver glitter helmet with a face covering '70's style bubble shield with no vents at all. The silver helmet is much cooler than the ventilated one.

Make sure it fit ware it for a while stand in the dealer show room look dume for while then you are putting a million doller head in it so what it worth OK that is your wife you can buy a cheep one your head is not worth as much HA HA

The brand that I bought is the HJC Helment, the IS-33. It has a one-touch integrated sunshield. I have only had my trike for 6 days so I can't tell you much about the wind noise. I really like the one-touch sunshield, it sure helps when you are riding into the sun. You migh check these helments out.
