Hello to all,
Just signed up here and hope to become acquainted soon. Looks as if there are lots of things to be learned here, as well as plenty of opinions to share. I'll try to lurk and listen and see how things are done here, but I will also probably feel compelled at some point to share my own thoughts and opinions as well. I love to learn new things, and no doubt that will be possible here.
My wife and I have been riding for quite a few years now. I've been riding since the late 60's one way or another. We bought a lightly used '79 Wing in 1980 and began our touring experiences then. Didn't get as much as we'd have liked, since we had growing kids at home. Sold the Wing in the late 80's cause we couldn't ride it much and keep up with the boy's athletic schedules. Got back aboard on a Yamaha V-Star in the late 90's and progressed to a Royal Star Venture that we rode lots of miles during which we made lots of memories.
Began to see the need for three wheels on the ground as we got older, and had the opportunity to buy a '97 GL1500 with a CSC kit installed that belonged to a good friend and neighbor's wife after he passed away. We rode that machine for nearly three years and loved it. We recently bought a lightly used '06 gold GL 1800 and had a RoadSmith IRS kit installed on it. We absolutely love it so far. We expect to be putting some serious miles on it very soon.
We are fortunate to be able to ride here in SENM pretty much all year round, although we have spells of winter and cold weather during that season. We also have to deal with lots of wind during the spring, and that can take the fun out of things, but overall, we don't have to stay off the bike for too long at a time.
Thanks for having me here ... I look forward to the experience!
