If I wrap the head pipes will it help keeping the heat off rider and co rider?

Also will it rust the head pipes? Out here in he hot dry climate water isn't a problem. Wondering minds want to know.

A lot of people wrap their pipes and say it does help reduce heat..As far as rusting, I doubt rapping will cause any more rusting then unwrapped pipes..

The fabric roll type of header wrap from DEI has made a world of difference in heat reduction. I applied it a few years back, & its holding up well.

I double wrapped an area that was close to the floorboard on the front pipe, & it stays noticeably cooler to the touch there than on single wrapped areas.

I also used the optional stainless tie wraps on each end for added insurance against unraveling, even though not really needed on the "starting" end.

From an aesthetic standpoint the wrap looks like crap IMO, but the benefit in heat reduction outweighs the show factor for me.

As far as rusting quicker, I have no answer as I've never "unwrapped" it to check.

It's not any louder yet, so I'm leaving well enough alone unless/until anything happens...

I plan to put the chrome covers over the wrap

so it won"t show. When its 110 + out here I would

like to get rid of all the heat I can. Thanks

Ceramic coated Pipes.....inside and out. More than a couple of the better Manufacturers make them. I use Rush.....Really like them...sound great and a very noticeable drop in heat. My 2 cents....jc
