HD Dealer / better prices

I think there are certain dealers that discount H-D parts. It appears that you found one, and I use another (http://www.surdyke.com)

There used to be several other H-D dealer parts sources that are out of business now (H-D of Austin, and Kutter H-D come to mind). I don't know much about their dealership agreement terms but I know that Harley-Davidson Inc. is constantly trying to dampen down external sales of OEM parts and accessories out of their immediate marketing area.

In surdyke.com case, ALL the parts you order are "special order" parts, and most are not returnable. They tap my credit card immediately, then it takes 2+ weeks to have then shipped. I take that into consideration before I decide where I'm buying a H-D part or accessory. If there's ANY chance that the part may not fit, I buy it locally. If it's something that's a "no brainer" (like an H-D engine guard kit, a H-D speedo / tach combo, or a luggage rack) then I'd buy it on-line with confidence, knowing that I'll get it in 2~3 weeks, and it'll fit.

In your case (Intermountain Harley-Davidson) it looks like you have 7 calendar days to return something. Also, in the Terms And Conditions, and Returns, there are several disclaimers and limitations.

My opinion is, I would buy one of your items first, and see how it goes.

Just my 2¢...

The owners of Kutter H-D retired and sold the dealership. It's been renamed Boardtracker H-D. They still offer discounts via mail order.
I ordered a 30T front belt pulley and fork wind deflectors (fangs) from them,Monday, and they shipped, yesterday. Discount was 20% and shipping was free.

Chicago HD used to discount 20% on Internet orders. In the past I bought a 95" motor up grade kit for my 2000 Road King, tour pack and some other parts for my 2005 Electra Glide and never had any problems. Haven't check them since owning the Freewheeler.

I think Chicago H-D discontinued their discount mail order program. I've been buying some parts from Boardtracker H-D (formerly Kutter H-D) as they offer a 20% discount and free shipping, with certain restrictions. Ordered a 30T front pulley and a pair of fork fangs from them on Nov 1st and they arrived, today.

:Agree: That's where I buy all of my parts!

OK ~ I'm a convert ~ I went to Boardtracker today!

Surdyke gave me 16% off, and I had to wait 2+ weeks for my stuff to ship.

Boardtracker gave me 20% off, and they'd mail my stuff in 3 days. ThumbUp
