I thought I would post this as I have seen several threads and post the last few months on financing. I have received 2 emails from Pensacola Harley Davidson the last few weeks. The first one ended a couple of days ago, but now they have extended it to July 23-29. They are offering 0% APR on NEW bikes. Of course the usual requirement of "subject to credit approval" applies. Anyway, thought some of you might be interested in this. I am sure other HD dealers are probably offering this also. You can't beat 0% interest.......IF they give a good deal on the bike you want. Check around, some of your local dealers might be offering this also.

Never got a loan for any HD I ever bought. Always self financed.Putting the payments away every month for 4-5 years then paying cash.Same with cars and pickup trucks.Only thing I've ever financed is property and semi-trucks.If it don't make me money I pay cash.

Glad you can.

:clapping:I am glad you are able to do that, but a lot of people can't. I bought a new vehicle a couple of years ago and was prepared to pay cash. However they had 0% at the time. So, I paid half down and financed the rest. Like I said, 0% is hard to beat if you can't pay cash. I didn't post this to do a survey about paying cash.

EXELLENT idea!

If bikes are like cars regarding financing you can't barter with them a lot. The money they "lose" in the original deal is payed back through financing interest.

I was going to buy a truck with O interest, the sales manger (I knew him well) advised me to pay interest as they could negotiate the final price better.

Just a FYI

I just got a check for my totaled TriGlide. I'm going to charge my next bike with my H-D credit card and then pay it off when the invoice comes. That way I'll get $300 back in Chrome Cash. Better then paying cash. Unless they give me a better cash price.

That is great about the HD 0.0% financing. Free use of other peoples money, even if you have the cash.

Tonight I am flying out of town to pick up a new F150 for Mary...replacing her 2011 F150.

I called around the country, cut the best deal I could find, then AFTER that used the current Ford Credit program of 0.0% financing, with as little down as possible. Did not change the price at all...that was already negotiated.

That would be great if your dealer would let you do it. Mine would not as they have to pay a % to the credit card company and he was not willing to do that. Let us know if this works for you please.

Are you leaving Mary to the wilds of Wyoming, Idaho, etc? Or, are you 2 already back home?:xzqxz:

Nothing is free. The dealer or manufacturer is paying a premium to lender to carry the loan.this premium is added to price of the vehicle. That’s why you often get better price by paying cash.

But the manufacturer OWNS the lender. They are transferring money from their left pocket to their right pocket. And as far as the dealer, if the lender offers 2% and he can sell you on 3%, then he has just pocketed the 1% premium that you will be paying. I would think the best deal would be to allow the dealer to finance the deal, negotiating your best price, without beating him up on the rate. When the first payment is due, pay it off.....of course that wouldn't apply to 0%....

I could be wrong, I have been before and likely will be again at some point.

he gunsmith I used to help out wanted to retire to the Abilene area. So he gets in touch with a realtor in Coleman and gets in his plane and flys out there with a brief case. He found a place he wanted than asked the realtor what would be the best cash price as he opened the brief case and paid it all in 50.00 bills as every 50 that came into the shop he considered it a 5 and stuck it in his pocket. Now THAT'S paying cash.

Keven I did the same on my old truck, I wanted a Toyota and shopped for a while. I stopped at my home dealer, just to look and they was running o.o % after I paid on it for a while I thought I will just pay it off, then I thought I do not save any thing, so just paid on it itil I had it paid off. same a cash but still had the money in the bank.

Mine wouldn't either - only $3000 max. I swear I read in the CC flyer, that comes with your invoice, about a customer paying for his Harley with his card.

My wife used 3 of her CC for her bike back in the day.

Hahahaha... ya'll think 0% you're getting over?YOU don't own the title till you pay off the loan.Wreck the bike and see what happens.Ya better get GAP insurance. In the auto/motorcycle/recreational sales world, a potantial buyer is called an" UP"-for good reason.Everything you see, touch, hear, smell, taste, at a dealership is designed to extract as much cash out of your wallet as possible.Just like casinos- at dealerships you can't beat the house. The system is rigged against you.Salesman get a "spin" for particular models sold during the month.Thats cash in his pocket direct from the factory.Dealerships get "a holdback" from the manufacture. This covers the financing of the dealerships floorplan. The dealer does not own the bike you are buying. Its financed through the manufacture.Watch the bike that sits on the floor month after month.Thats the bike to buy as the dealer has been paying interest on it.The owner gets a cash incentive and goes right into his pocket. He doesn't share it with the GM or sales staff.Negotiate the OTD price and deduct 22% on a new bike/car and 15%on used.Pay cash.Cash is King.Dont be a rube.Dont be a sucker.Be willing to walk away.

Really?

"Old Road Dog"............"Negotiate the OTD price and deduct 22% on a new bike/car and 15%on used.Pay cash.Cash is King.Dont be a rube.Dont be a sucker.Be willing to walk away."

1. You have made it clear you are a "cash paying man" unless you are buying land or large trucks etc.

2. I think most of us know about GAP insurance.

3. I think most EVERYBODY knows you don't own a vehicle until the Lien is paid off and is cleared.

4. I believe most people know that Dealers don't actually own the vehicles on their lot.

5. Most people know about "hold back" and "incentive" money for dealers.

6. Most people in THIS FORUM don't want the bike that is sitting over in the corner or has been at the dealer for months and months unless it just happens to be the Trike they are looking for.....because if they are going to pay for a new Trike they are going to get what they want....IF they can afford it.

Yes, cash is the way to go for those that can afford it. I always tell the salesman I am dealing with I am going to pay cash "no financing", I want his absolute best out the door price (this includes fees, sales tax and my first tag) the first time. We are not going to run back and forth to the GM or sales manager with a bunch of different offers...get it right the first time. I tell them I have at least 3 OTD prices already. I try to buy on the last 1 or 2 days of the month. IF I get the price I want and they have 0% at the time, I might finance half of it and keep the other in my money market account. Nothing wrong with people using 0% if they need to do it and can afford the machine.

Old Road Dog "Negotiate the OTD price and deduct 22% on a new bike/car and 15%on used.Pay cash.Cash is King.Dont be a rube.Dont be a sucker.Be willing to walk away."

Do you mean that, just for example, if I negotiate a cash price for a new $35,000.00 trike of say $33.000.00 out the door (all fees, taxes, tag etc.) that I should then take 22%, which would be $7.260 off of that price, which would be a final price of $25,740 and they will accept it?

Never negotiate a trade in or financing first, negotiate for the bike (or car.) THEN offer trade ins or for financing. It's very hard for a dealer to tell you know on advertised zero percent after your agreed on a price. I financed my trike cause I had no debt, and we were considering buying another house. Paying in a timely fashion helped my credit score.

Hahaha.Of course they won't accept it.Theyll freak out."Where did you get your pricing from?" They will ask.My reply:Same place you got yours-out yer butt. Its a baseline to begin negotiating and I keep them off balance.BTW:how do you know everyone knows how to negotiate-did you take a survey?Wouldn't know it by me-so many get taken to the cleaners.Hey want to know a secret? There's a 30-33% markup on all motor vehicles.Funny thing that's about the depreciation on a recreational vehicle.Your behind the 8 ball before you leave the lot.How do I know this?I sold cars and trucks for a while. Not only that when I deliver new semi trucks to dealers I see the invoice.Crazy money is made on motor vehicles.Wanna know a another dirty secret:It cost the factory the same amount of money to build a sedan as it does an SUV.It costs the factory the same amount to build a Sportster as it does to build a Tri-Glide.The labor is a set known quantity negotiated with the union.

I walked into a dealer and my wife (the negotiator, aka "bitch") and she got 7k off the price in 1 hour and 10 minutes. I had a letter of credit from my credit union, and walked with the price.
