Need to haul a HD Trike --- I have an enclosed trailer that will get the job done but it would be sooooo much easier on the mileage if I could simply load in the back of my pickup --- secure it and head down the road. Yes the trailer will definitely haul it (trailer hauls 4 HD bikes) but would be vastly easier and more economical just to haul in the Pickup. Checking with those that have done this as to thoughts and words of wisdom. By the way -- 8 ft bed on my truck and would use a front chock bolted to a fitted piece of plywood --- secure the rear to tie downs in the bed and go for it.Thoughts and guidance please

How would you get it on the truck, And when you get to your destination get it off..??
You would need a ramp to get it on/off....
Bye the way is this gonna be a one time haul... Or routine.?

Oh, it can be done but you'd have to haul a pretty large of ramps and 2X6's to load and unload.

I saw several of those self loading systems for 2 wheelers and trikes at Sturgis this past year. Ran about $3000.00 for the complete set up.

I don't think it would fit because when putting the trike in a trailer the door opening needs to be 5 feet wide and pickup beds are not that wide.

Oh, It will fit... The rear wheels will sit on the tailgate... The Tri-Glide is about 9 Ft long...
So in an pinch it can be done... But like i said earlier , You'll need a ramp to get it on and off..

Hauling a trike in a pickup truck

It can be done, check out the Rampage loading system. I considered getting one of these when I bought my trailer but decided against it. With an 8 foot bed it shouldn't be that bad. The way I understand it there is no weight on the tailgate, and the unit bolts to the frame through the bed and is removable. I decided against it because my truck was a half ton and the bed length was only 5feet 8 inches.

I started looking into doing this after I bought the Tri Glide last week. Pita I decided. Couldn't fit the zero turn mower either. So, I'm trading the sedan for a small crossover and buying a ramp trailer with wood plank floor from the big orange box store for $450

Be sure & get one that isn't too far off the ground so you won't have to have 12' ramps. Also be sure that $450 trailer is rated around 1500# + capacity. The Trike is almost 1200# then your ramp & odds & ends in the trunk & Tour Pac it's heavy !
Just say'n....
