After some serious discussion(and a couple of really good arguments) The s/o and I have decided that we wanna go "trikin"

I will be the pilot as she is quite content to be driven around like the queen that she is LOL

Have not ever owned a trike, except for the several off road types back in the 90's

Pretty sure we want to go with japanese based unit vs Harley based.

Any comments, suggestions etc. on places to start looking are greatly appreciated.

Probably gonna go with a used unit out of the gate, just in the interest of sound finances

We live in the Texas panhandle

HOWDY YA'LL!!!

Can't help much in the decision making area, but wanted to say welcome, both to triking and to Trike Talk!! Lots of fun to be had both on the wheels and the site, and LOTS of great information will be coming your way very soon.

Welcome to the forum.. One of the first decisions is to figure out what kind of trike U and the Ms. want..Goldwing--Harley--new reverse trike==VW etc..
then get out and ride as many of them as U can.. Make sure the wife rides with U,, their ride is different than what U get, so make sure she is happy..
If U R looking at Goldwing, U have a choice of the 1500 or 1800... Just depends on the money U want to spend.. 2000 was the last year for the 1500.. and if U get a 1800 make sure the recalls have been done..
U might also check with Bazooka, he is a dealer and gets some in... Also if U find a 2 wheeler U like U can then have the conversion done...
Good Luck with the quest....
And don't be afraid to ask questions....

Welcome to the trike talk forum! I'm just a little North of you in the SW corner of Kansas, and just joined the trike community about a month ago.
This is one of the best boards for beginners into triking and you will get a lot of info.
I looked for over 2 months, and found a '95 GL1500 with an '03 California Side Car conversion. Very happy with my selection and with the ride so far. Just waiting for riding weather. I am usually more comfortable buying from individuals, so I pretty much narrowed my search to that type of advertising.
Good Luck, and if I can help up here, just let me know.

Dick

Thanx for the warm welcome!!!

I would say we are 90% sure we want a Goldwing/Voyager based machine instead of a Harley(seems to me a japanese unit would offer a smoother ride no??)

Fully intend to ride as many as we can prior to any purchase.

ricle41 you are indeed just up the road a piece, would you be so kind as to provide a place to start looking that is even semi-close to the area.(We both still work full-time jobs,so our physical search/shop will be limited to weekends)

Welcome aboard to you and your queen! Whatever trike you choose will be wonderful and you'll soon be riding in the wind and having a ball.

Welcome aboard 2fromTX Goldwing is a good choice. You might want to do a bit of research between the voyager and a conversion. They are completely different rides. If you can get a chance to ride both that would be the best bet.

You could also check out the Thouroughtbred Motorsport Stallion which is made in Troup, Tx and really different, but a lot of fun as we have one.
