Hello everyone. My name is Laurie and I came to this forum hoping that I can get some advice on everything GO-4. There is really nothing worth a sh!% on the web. My 1994 Westward Industries GO-4 model P35 runs great (so far). Now if I could only find a insurance company willing to insure my Go-4 then I could be actually driving it on the streets. But for now it just travels around on my ranch.

Laurie, welcome aboard. Have you tried Progressive Allstate or Geico yet?

Hi Laurie...always happy to welcome another lady to the forum.

I did a quick google search and came up with westwardindustries.com.

There is probably some contact info on that website...hopefully they can help you with questions.

yes and all 3 said no they will not insure. They only would say that they are not sure if it is a car or a motorcycle. I sent pictures of the metal dash plate which clearly states that it is a MOTORCYCLE. But still no luck. Very frustrated.

Try FOREMOST .

Does your state require insurance? New jersey is a mandatory insurance state. If a vehicle is titled and legal for the road then NJ has to provide an insurance co that will insure that vehicle. What does your mv agency say?

Still no luck on the insurance for my GO-4. I guess I am going to just sell it since I cant get insurance on it. Plus DMV just informed me that I need to take it in to either the Department of Motor Vehicles or to a California Highway Patrol station to get it inspected because there are conflicting documents on this GO-4 one that says it is a car which will need to get a smog certificate as well as insurance to be registered and another document that states it is licensed as a Motorcycle.. If it is a motorcycle it does not need to get a smog inspection (which is good because the GO-4 does not have any smog devices installed on it) but will still need insurance. So I will probably see if I can get at least $2500 for it and just get rid of it.

Hey Laurie, welcome...sorry your having so much trouble. Don't know if you want to try going through an independent local agent. This isn't uncommon seeing that the vin doesn't exist in the main system.

There's an old thread from about 2011 from a member who acquired coverage from Progressive. See below

I bought my 1998 GO-4 "trike" that runs on Compressed Natural Gas in 2008 from Hollywood Motors in California. The first issue I encountered was to how to get it shipped to Denver

The next issue was to figure out how to get it insured since every one of the insurance companies I called said "That VIN does not exist".

Finally, I went to an independent insurance rep at AAA who was able to manually enter my vehicle into the system on Progressive.

Hope this helps in some way, would hate for you to give it up if you didn't have to.

If the origin was from law inforcement , farm , or municipality use, it probably was never registered. If you have a title or registration, then the dmv can pappertrail it to origin, providing you get the right person. Don’t give up ! Being 22+ years old , it might be worth getting it inspected at the dmv as a mc being it has 3 wheels and a name plate with a vin number.

Laurie, Welcome to Trike Talk Forum from West Virginia.:wave4:

Your GO-4 Trike is a motorcycle because of it's 3-wheeled configuration. Most of the states (California is still a state ??) recognize a 2 or 3 wheeled vehicle as a motorcycle or an 'auto-cycle'. Registration will probably consider it an auto-cycle because of the seating configuration, cab enclosure and steering wheel.

Welcome to the group from Pennsylvania enjoy the upgraded ride and good luck on the registration and Insurance travel safe Fred
