Okay guys and gals here's one that I hope to get a consensus of opinion on; I need to replace some of my chrome goodies on my '05 GL1800. Most of it is Kuryakyn, I know that Show Chrome and Add On make them as well. Which brand seems to have the best appearance and longevity? I wish that these accessories had the durability of chrome in the Harley world. Well that is probably not going to happen, since most of it is plastic.

Show Chrome stuff seems to last better here in our humid climate. Kuryakyn accessories are more available, but there stuff just doesn't last, in my experience.

I've seen the Add on stuff, just never tried it.

I go along with the Show Chrome holding up better.
All my Kury stuff already needs replacing after only 4 years of Florida heat and humidity.
I have a lot of chrome from Chrome Masters on my Yamaha. Its all been replaced except the original 10 year old stuff.
Best chrome in my opinion is the original on my Yamaha. Its Chinese and they didn't/don't care how many of their own they kill to do it. very few chromers left in the USofA. The EPA has closed most down.

Between Show Chrome (Big Bike Parts) and Add On I'd vote for Show Chrome every time. The other just doesn't not seem to have the same level of fit and finish. I've been told by some that went with Add On that it does not last long at all but that is here say. :xszpv::xszpv:

Personally I am staying Kuy, I just like the looks of it and I have had good success with it, I usually wash mine after rides, don't know if that is why or not but I have never experienced chrome coming off on two bikes. I have used the Show chrome on other bikes as well and I think it is high quality stuff and one would not go wrong buying it.

Over here in Scotland the Kuryakyn stuff doesn't last.... We opened a brand new box from the states and it was already pitted. We asked the store in the states to check and yes there ones were also pitting even before it has been affixed....:AGGHH:
I am now buying from China where it is made in the first place at less cost. Once my top rack goes I am going to get it powder coated white to match the trike this will last so much longer but does not have the kerb appeal... :clapping::clapping:

Kury is the worse. I've had highway pegs that pitted after a year. I replaced them and they again pitted in a year and am now just planning on painting them with maybe bed liner. I don't really like chrome anyways.

Yes I agree and that seems to be the consensus of opinion that the Kury stuff is just "GARBAGE." I need to replace most of mine and its gonna cost but I can't stand the flaking chrome anymore. It almost looks like my chrome has a bad case of (chrome) dandruff!

Thanks for all the replies.

Chrome

My 08 GL as a two wheeler has only 2050 miles but was from the coast line of Lousiana. I bought the trike with all the added chrome on it and its mostly pitted. The floorboards look awful and one side of the valve covers is pitted, one is not. so, as the year goes by I'll slowly replace some of it.

I feel for you. That's why I have to change mine. I used to live in Miami. And my bike was only in a big shed, not in a garage. It was out of the weather, but still had moist salt air to contend with. Its costing me about $750 now to make it look nice again.

I've had Kury foot pegs on my Trikes, the same set, since 2004, and they look brand new. Never had a issue. I think anyone who lives near salt water will have a problem with any brand. A good friend of mine towed his bike down to Gulf Shores a few years ago and stayed 2 months. By the time he returned home, every piece of chrome on that bike was pitted beyond an hope of cleaning it off.

Yeah and my Wing spent 6 years in a salt air environment!
