GL1800 Broken Front Stay Brace

I've been hearing squeaks and bumping from the front of my CSC Trike. Checked all the shrouds for missing and loose clips and replaced a few of those. Finally got tired of the sounds and did further investigation. I could lift the the front of the nose up and down, not a lot, but noticeable. Got a flashlight and could see a crack in the front stay just above the 2 frame bolts.
Took about 4 hours to remove the fairing. When I removed the stay it broke into 2 pieces. Took the stay to a welder, he welded it back together and we added a gusset to the front of the brace. Took about 8 hours for reassembly. WHAT A PAIN ( after thinking about it, I think we could have added another gusset on each side of the stay for rigidity)
Trike is now solid with no squeaks or rattles. HOORAH

Tearing down a GL1800 fairing and reassembling it is a PITA but that nonstop squeak would drive me nuts. Dont you feel better that you got rid of it?

YUP worth it for sure!! I have heard of that before but thank God it is very rare. Doesn't seem to be any logical reason for them to crack.
