Tried to get under our 2012 TG today and couldn't get far enough to see much other than the rear pulley.

Thought I'd buy 2 2X12's, 8 feet long. Cut one piece 3 ' long, one piece 2' long and another 1 1/2' long. Screw them together with the longest on the bottom and the shortest on the top I should get the back of the trike a little over 5" off the ground (assuming duplication of the other 2X12).

Any better ideas out there?

I know some folks use those free standing car ramps. Don't know what they cost, but I think they might lift the trike a bit more than 5" if you back the wheels up on them.

Hi Nana
I'm not sure the Harley back-up electric motor would be able
to do this

i have a 08 goldwing with a champion kit and use the car ramps. i put the ramps in front of the rear wheels and drive it up on the ramps. works for me. ThumbUp

i use 3 2x6's 8"x7"'s screwed together and on the bottom i used a 4"' hole saw
and sawed thru a 1/2" board screwed the round part to the center of the 3 2x6's.
to use this
you slide the boards under the rear of the tri-glide
then you slide a normally 3 ton car jack under the trike. as you slide it fwd. put the boards on top of the jack (the round board keeps it centered & steady.) the boards will fit across the braces for the trunk.
jack up the trike (if the trike starts to tip to one side slide the boards over a bit.
then just put small jack stands under the axle.&release pressure on the jack.
i got the jack stands from sears when they had a pkg deal 99.00 for a creaper, jack a,d stands.

I had an old set of car ramps I was going to give away. Had to get under the trike to get the mufflers off. I'm keeping them now as they worked perfect.<br />

This is what I use to work on trikes and bikes. When raising the Triglide there is a section in the owners manual that tells you how to jack it up.

I tried driving onto 3 ramps (2'x6"s), the rear wheel without traction (the one that will spin) threw the ramp back out of my garage, glad no one was standing back there. Now I just drive the front wheel onto the ramp then jack up the back end and place the ramps under the back tires. Two 2"x6"s screwed together gives me enough clearance to change oil and filter on my Honda VTX.

What brand jack is that, and what exhaust system are you using. When I try using either my Sears or Harbor Freight jack, I can't get it far enough aft to balance the bike. I run out of frame to support the rear lift bar. I've come VERY close to buying a lift table like Young Mike a couple of times, just lack the room in the garage to store it.

I use 3 ramps.2 are car ramps(stands) with 6' metal ramps that are fastened with 1 bolt each to keep from slipping. The center ramp I made out of 2 x 6's.The ramp part is 6' long and tapered from 5 1/2" to nothing - 2 x 6's 12" long screwed to them.By making the center ramp 2 pcs. I can put the trike on the stands - remove the 3 ramps and have plenty of room to work underneath.
The 6' ramps makes it easy to pull up on the stands and still have control - rather than trying to pull up a steep car ramp and stop on top
Works for me!!

its a old blackjack lift..

Kinda looks like if a mosquito landed on either end, it would flip.

Is it stable??
I can put a million mosquito,s and it wouldnt flip.I can even sit on it no problem..
I have rocked it up and down...It is as stable as if it were raising a two wheel bike

I'll give you credit, you've got guts! Sorry, that just looks too flimsy to me. I'm afraid if I got on the trike with a big wrench, it would come down on top of me.
Fear not it is very stable..I mean dont use a 6 foot pole to break loose a bolt it can hold up much better than you think...

stock header pipes with super trapp stout mufflers

I can get under mine this way..

trikermutha, I was reading this thread yesterday when the UPS truck pulled up with my new Pit Bull lift with Tri Glide adaptor. I started looking into lifts after seeing an earlier post of this picture that you had made. Thanks for answering my questions as I had zero experience with any type of lifts. Working by myself, I had the lift assembled and the trike in the air ready for pictures in 25 minutes. I have back problems and was unable to even reach the lower parts of the trike, it sure was nice to polish my mags for the first time while sitting in my chair. Everything associated with trikes and H-D is expensive but this sure was some of the best money spent. Pit Bull was great to work with and gave me free shipping. They actually included the adaptor for no charge !! I was only billed for the advertised price of $489.00 ! Thanks again trikermutha. I am trying some pic's hope they make it...

Thanks to both of you, I must be doing something wrong. Both of our trikes use stock pipes with slip-ons, but seem too rear heavy and won't balance on my jacks. I only tried once before I gave up and used ramps, need to give it another attempt. Never had any problems with the jacks and the old Harleys. Guess old age makes me too cautious.

screwball, I haven't heard you say, do you have the adaptor ? I think it is a must have with these lifts. Pit Bull sells the adapter by itself, I think it is somewhere around $65.

yes you will need the pitbull Tri Glide adapter...But I dont think they would fit on your lifts..
The bike would tip to the back without the adapter..

See my other post on lifts..I have pics posted and another member posted his pictures also
