I was wondering where to get jackets, rain gear, etc. And exactly what gear is essential and what is hype. Also, where do you go to get patches put on your jacket? Also, I wear glasses as does my husband. Is that sufficient for protection? Illinois requires eyewear when riding and any kind of glasses pass, but want input from experienced trikers. We haven't even picked up our trike yet, and this site has been sooooo helpful! Glad we found it!! Thanks in advance! :)

Mimi, regular glasses are fine -- or regular sunglasses. If we are out riding for an extended time or on the highway a lot, I find I start to tear-up. I have found I prefer sunglasses that wrap around to the side more than usual. Or I have a pair of comfortable little goggles that do a really great job of keeping the wind and grit out of my eyes.

I have Tour Master Rain gear. I love it because it look nice even after you get off the bike and when it stops raining you can still wear it, not look silly and not OVER HEAT. Comes is different colors . Not the cheapest but very nice . Comes in woman sizes also . Rolls up into a very small storage bag. I also wear Cruiser Works boots. I have never gotten my feet wet in them,

Thanks, John. I'm looking into that right now. Do you know if your rain gear is the Sentinel or Elite series?

Mimitriker just dress for the weather. We like to layer if necessary. We wear Fogg Togg's for the rain or an extra layer when its really cold. Boots or ankle shoes that are comfortable to walk in. Remember when its 40 degrees out and you are riding at speed it get cold. A couple pair of different weight gloves. One set should be water proof. I have a pair of GORTEX for cold and rainy weather and a pair full hand but light gloves for warm weather riding. I wear full hand because of skin cancer. You want to get some head covering for those cool days also that fits under your helmet if you wear one.
