Jacking the front end off the ground and slowly rotating the wheel will normally show bad bearings if they are really gone. But the best way is to check them while the wheel is off as in a tire change. I'd try just spinning the wheel as it's off the ground first but if you feel any resistance or slop, remove for a better exam by feeling how smooth they rotate with you fingers. You'll know if they are gone. If smooth and no rough spots you're fine. But while your at it see if you can lift an edge slightly to inject some grease. Some you can and some you can't. I don't know what kind a wing calls for.
