new guy here from the left coast. Been lurkin here , gathering info for my upcoming build. Looking for your personal experiences with Frankenstien's
products.Project bike is a 03' road king, stage one kit, sampson fish tail mufflers on factory head pipes, oil cooler & screamin eagle 6-speed.Since joining I've also added the SE diaphragm clutch spring and clutch wiz.
I'm looking at the 30" hot rod unit since I prefer the narrow width axle and open wheel wide tire look.Need your input on the following :
#1- is the single rear caliper giving you sufficient braking ?
#2- did you use their exhaust and what is the clearence between their "S" pipe and the axle housing. photo's I've been able to find looks like maybe 3or4 inches.
# 3- their triple trees for the FL's are 7 degree , Bazooka's trees are 5 degree. would that 2 degree difference be very noticable in the handling. Zook please chime in here if you like, I respect your input. thank's guy's

I installed a Frankenstein kit on my 1991 FLTC (similar touring frame) about two years ago.

1. The single brake and caliper gives sufficient braking. It does brake only one of rear wheels. I still do majority of braking with front brake.
2. I did use their exhaust, There is about 2" clearance between the closest place on the axle housing (the axle housing is tapered, not straight). The furthest cleance between other areas of curve in axle housing are about 3".
3. I installed a 5% tree and it handles great with fairly light steering.

The Frankenstien people were great, they gave me plenty of advise on phone during my installation. Parts are very high quality, lightweight aluminum (about 85 lbs), and all parts parts that wear are Ford. Many manufactuers will not furnish what type or part number on bearings, etc. I would not buy from any of these. Frankenstein will give you a list of the part numbers for bearings, etc. I do not like the exhaust and I am looking to replace it with something else, but will probably have to make something. Mufflers are loud and exhaust system is way over priced. Other part I do not like is there is no mechanical adjustment for belt alignment. You have to move entire axle assembly one way and then another until proper alignment found and then tighten down. I believe the system should have some type of mechanical adjustment (similar to stock Harley axle adjusters). I have the 38" kit and 8" rims with 4" offset. Some people say it looks narrow, but it corners like on rails. No problem going around two lane curves at 55-60 miles an hour. I wanted the stripped down look (I have no need for fiberglass rear bodies and trunks, I want it to be more like a motorcycle than a car) and, with exception of exhaust, I am very happy with the kit. I would buy it again. Good Luck.

Buster,
Thanks for the info. You seem to be in agreement with lots of guys regarding their exhaust system. I'm really happy with the Sampson fishtail mufflers on the bike now and will fab up the exhaust pipes and needed brackets. I agree with you in that I don't need all the plastic !I've been in e-mail contact with Daniel @ frankenstein regarding the rear widths. Got the bike on the lift with my 295-50/15 tires on 10"rims with 4"setback spaced out for a 30" rear. It measures 11 1/2" from center of bike to tire sidewall or 23" tire to tire. Daniel is saying the 30 & 34" won't allow a passenger.I may move to the 34"reluctantly.If the wife's butt gets wider than 27" she'll need a taxi ! Again , thanks for your input, ride safe

Jim
