I am finishing up on the mods from DK. I recently installed V&H power duels and deluxe trike exhaust which i also picked up from DK. I have a 2016 TG. The FL-VIED were installed a few years. Now that I have completed everything DK has to offer I decided to finish up by installing the FP3, which I also bought from DK. What I am wondering is there any reason to remove the VIEDs before adding the FP3 since they are already installed. I have read in other posts where folks Have used XIEDs and FP1 or FP2. As Kevin said in one post the FP3 is a different animal. I was thinking if for any reason I should return to the original map (have no idea why I would) the VIEDs would already be installed and I would not return to being on the lean side. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. While I am at it I would like to thank Kevin and the crew for all the help over the last few years. They have been great to deal with. I would also like to thank all the folks here on Trike Talk for their suggestions and advice.

I would call Vance and Hines and ask about the VIED’s. If it were mine I would remove them as one more potential point of failure. The FP3 doesn’t need a variable inline enrichment device to map correctly, in fact they could work against the FP3 mapping.

I also removed my Vieds when I added the Power vision. I wanted the PV to start with a "clean slate" so to speak. Didn't want another variable in there. My vieds are setting on my work bench.

Yep Steve that is my concern. I am not sure how the thing works. I do have those same thoughts. Like you I am concerned about that point of failure and how it may interfere with the with the tune.

Did you run the bike for a tank or 2 so the CO2 sensors reset to normal in the ECM? I am probably way over thinking this thing but I just want to get it right the first time around with no problems.

I would run the FP3 with the ViED's removed.

The Long Term Fuel Trim, which is constantly adjusting, will be the only thing different in the ECM because of running the ViED's.

That will not interfere with the FP3 functioning properly. There is no need to run a tank thru before installing the FP3 after removing the ViED's.

Here you can read to understand fuel trim. This is a pretty good read IMO, it is too bad my scanner will not interface with a Harley diagnostic port:(

I did not, just made the switch and started with the tune from Fuel Moto, then a couple "auto" tune runs.
