Anyone monitoring MPG on their FP3?

I'm just playing around with the FP3. Looked at average MPG and it showed 37.9. Calculated was 34.6. I looked at the settings and it was set to 1989 counts, pulses, or whatever it is. I tried dividing the 1989 by 37.9 and then multiplying it by 34.6. That gave 1816, so that is what I programmed in. On my second tank, I am getting similar results. Still over 3 MPG difference. Anyone played with this to see what to set it at to start getting close?

I have a 2013 HD TriGlide and have a formula to set your VSS pulses by utilizing a GPS and speedometer concurrently and mine is set at 2509 and I am spot on!! You might try the 2509 and see how that works for you.

Don't know if there is any difference between your year Trike and Mine though!! The formula is just a basic algebra calculation.

Good luck!!

Response from Vance and Hines:

It uses a calculation of desired AFR, pulse width and RPM.So it is not linear, but dynamic. It is close, but there are many othervariables that contribute to your mileage, such as idling, air resistance, weight, tire pressure, etc. There is no chart on the settings.

Looks like a trial and error adjustment.

Okay. I have to admit it. My wife is right. My real middle name must be Goofy. I was looking at this backwards. I thought the MPG adjustment on the FP3 was to calibrate what it reported as MPGs with the actual that you calculate. Wrong. It is just to calibrate the bike's MPG calculations. I made a huge change in it tonight when I filled up. When I went to see distance to empty, it showed about 179 miles instead of the usual 210 or so.

Made me think about it and it made sense. If it was calibrating the FP3 reading, there would have been no reason to flash it to the bike. <br />
It only took me three tries to figure out I was thinking wrong. Live and learn.
