First Long Haul Test with UltraCooler and Redline 20/60 on 09 TG

Hi Gang,

Have just completed my 690 mile round trip from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.

So here is the results from my trip. Again, I had installed Redline 20/60, UltraCooler, and the SuperTuner using HD's Police MAP.

Average outside temp through the desert was 85 degrees.
Oil Temp did not exceed 200/210 degrees.

Upon entering Vegas into traffic, during the stop and go the temp reached 230 degrees (this after riding from Baker). Outside temp at 86 degrees.

Bike ran best it ever has. Set cruse control for 78 MPH (6th gear) and bike handled the grades better than expected. In fact only had to downshift once!

Fuel mileage was weak, but considering the way it ran and the fact the oil temp was at an all time low, who cares. Highway average at 75 MPH flat roads was 29/30 MPG. Did have a low of 24 MPG when running the grades.

Finally made a long trip without the breather saturating the air filter with oil! HOORAY!!

Now the real test will be in temps over 100 degrees!!??

Riding back to Laughlin for the RiverRun next Thursday (appears may be a rainy day?) and will see if I get the same results!

Oh ya, outside engine heat still very hot!

By the way, the speed issue in my previous post was actually just this old man's lack of brain cells.

Great report, PopDukes! Thanks!

That sounds a LOT better than the 265 I got when I gasse up back here in Vegas this evening after a "bonzi run" to St George UT. Your mileage is in the ball park. I'm running a 95" stage II & at 85 on the freeway, it gets 25 MPG, at 55 - 65 on the highway, it's pushing 40. In town it's about 27 give or take.

PopDukes thanks for the report. It appears the UltraCooler is effective.

Thanks All.

Was quite surprised by the dramatic change with the UltraCooler. I do believe the Redline 20/60 did contribute. Unsure if the SuperTuner had any additional effect?

FINALLY. Only took a bit over a year and an additional $3K in mods! LOL

BY the way, Tuesday we are installing my new PM (Performance Machines) brakes on the rears. Am so tired of the loud squeaking when coasting. Of course Murphy has aways played with me when trying to demonstrate the issue to my dealer. Recent example; While in Vegas this last 11 days, every day while running under 15 MPH and/or coasting my rear brakes would squeal loud enough for me to hear over my V&H slip-ons. Since I returned home, they have been quite! Hoping the new brakes will alleviate the noise and perform better than the originals. Will keep you posted on this one.
