How long before oil pressure shows up?

After my oil pump failed I flushed the crankcase, oil pan, etc, put in a the new pump and cam plate as per instructions, used assembly fluid on everything I touched, followed the Harley manual all the way, aligned the pump, installed a new oil filter and flushed the lines ( I have a remote filter about two feet away). Got everything all buttoned up and fired it up and let it idle for about 30 seconds and no oil pressure showing yet.

How long should it take for oil pressure to register? don't want to screw anything else up.

I hope you assembled the oil pump properly and put the wave washer in correctly.

Yup. I followed instructions in the Harley manual

I noticed you diagram shows an outer body o-ring whereas the Harley manual doesn't show one. Otherwise everything else is the same.

Hope the O ring from the cam plate isn't the issue

I put assembly fluid on all the O-rings before the install.

One thing I just tried is I put about 12 oz of oil down one of the lifter tubes so that the pump would have something to work with. Because I have a remote oil filter I was able to pull the feed line to the filter and crank the bike over, with the plugs removed and the wires grounded, and see what happens. I didn't get any oil but I got air and a gurgle sound from the oil line. Not sure what that means but that's what I got.

Well I finally got oil pressure.... YEAH!!! It happened shortly after I poured about 6oz of oil through the front exhaust lifter, the easiest to get to, and then cranked the motor over with the plugs out and the wires grounded. After about 5 times of cranking for about 10 seconds each time the oil pressure needle finally jumped into life! Funny how such a little thing as oil pressure brings such joy, eh?
