I originally installed a set of V&H short shots on wife's 2005 sportster that I added a Frankenstein Trike kit to. After a year the exhaust became too loud for her. I tried installing stock header pipes back with a set SEII slipons and regardless of slip on I choose I do not get the clearance needed for the axle adjuster on the rear end. I am looking to add pipes that will exit near the rear axle to keep sound behind her. Has anyone with a sportster come up with an exhaust that exits near rear of bike? Did you need to do any mods to it?Please advise.

Could you get a muffler shop to bend you up an extension that would drop the slip-ons the desired amount while taking them a little further rearward?

You must be reading my mind because thats exactly what i did today i went to the local exhaust shop and had it done. Works well just sent it out to be chromed in philadelphia pa. its worked for me hope it does for u as well

Thats pretty much a standard fix for us...we do it all the time because a lot of guys have custom pipes on their bike and want the same ones on their trike so we just build extensions..
