Every Biker Has a Style (Even If He Doesn't Know It)

That was great, okie! He does a really good job of describing each group and paints a very clear picture through his writing.

I started several years ago in the "Liesure" group, then moved into the "Harley" group for the past 7 or 8 years (although on a metric bike), and now have moved into the "Goldwing" group. It's been an interesting trip that both excited me, and at times scared me, and now I am very comfortable and satisfied to be where I am. I still have a lot of friends in every group he described.

I'd have to say that I'm a cross between the Wing and Harley group. I believe in having as many lights as I can for the simple safety reason of "Being Seen", but I also believe in wearing leather also for the purpose of safety.

Basically, I guess I might just as well categorize myself in the last group, 'Your own man style'. If I like it and it makes sense, I'll do it. lol

Wow that was an interesting read. However I thought one style was left out that would be the IornButt style. A dying breed but a very fundamental of some who has pushed themselves into to one or more of the other styles.

Since I started riding when I was 5. (learned on an old suicide shift, I drove off the side stand till time to stop and found a soft spot to stop in for dad to pick it up park it,) I have had so many different styles and makes of bikes as many of the members here have had.

I use to ride over a 1000 miles a day as an old IornButt, raced on dirt and track, Chief MSF Instructor for many years and taught police department’s how to use their rides, and thought motorcycle safety all over the world.

So I guess I sort of fall in all they styles rolled in to a Hybrid.

Also just throwing out there my 1st grandson has been racing motorcycle’s since he was 4 (now 11). So I am sure he will start out as the sport style for awhile.

So all being said, IornButt’s Unite…. Because now our butts are softer nowadays lol

I 'ma Harleywinger. I wear leather 99% of the time. I hang with mostly Harley people none of which have fuzzy beards or long hair. I have every gadget that fits on a motorcycle and am usually the guy that carries the extras and has the GPS when we get lost. I also have the brightest lights when we get on extremely dark roads. Great write up.

Good humor there, some pretty accurate, some waaay off the mark. I've found Beemer riders ( stereotypically and in general) the most adamant when it comes to the proper riding apparel -(Day-glo orange vest with reflective stripes anyone? almost never see any other than BMW pilots wearing one off the military base) I like the "Own Man" catagory, without the BMW exclusion. (Sort of sounds like the author rides a Beemer)
Does wearing a Goldwing jacket while riding my Harley count? Otherwise it seems like the scene in Monty Python's "Life Of Brian": (Crowd chants in unison) "Yes, we are individuals"

Usually if we see a bike at a gas stop we will walk over and strike up a conversation, the Beemer guys are by far the most difficult ones to get to talk, I guess they are afraid we will cover up that dayglo with leather or something.:D

Started HD, too far out for me, last 2 years WING all the way. I am only 49 but most of my friend are in thier 60's.

You've got a lot to look forward to... These days, the 60's are now the new 40's.
(that's my story and I'm sticking to it ;))

By the way, some of my riding mates are in the LATE 70's and still loving it :D
