The European number plate holder and light seems to be created to hold all the various different sized number plates used in Europe.

On my French plated Harley Davidson this resulted (I think) in an oversized holder that was quite ugly (see attached photograph), so I replaced it with a simple numberplate attached directly to the boot/trunk/coffre, and illuminated by a Thunderbike single LED (photograph attached).

I am very pleased with the resulting simple and clean look.

Does look cleaner.

Is it required for the plate to be mounted in the center or could it be relocated to behind the wheel, like in U.S.?

Has to be in the centre to comply with French (and other European countries?), and the same applies to motorcycles. I have seen side mounted number plates on motorcycles here, but it has been confirmed to me that this is not legal. However, the Gendarmes here seem pretty relaxed about motorcycle regulations (unless you provoke them, of course!).

Seems to me that where you mount your plate shouldn't be big problem... ( I understand that there should be a light above the plate, so it can be seen at night....( I personally see no problem on where you have your plate mounted...........
