Question: I have a Vision tuner for my 11 Tri Glide. This past week, Wiz has e mailed me some of his starting point setting he uses with his tuners. (Thanks) Well after flashing the new tune, I decided to mount the tuner screen to the bars. I saw where you can monitor a great deal of how bike is operating in real time. One gauge I brought up is engine temperature. I take this to be the head temp.
All good to see temp, BUT, what temperatures are good and when should I be concerned? Would be nice if it gave oil temp!
Also, those who are using this tuner, found any other gauge on this you find helpful or nice?
Thanks in advance,
Dennis

I went out today for a ride after setting up several of the gauges. One was a trip meter, all on one screen, miles you have traveled since reset, one that keeps track of gas used, one that converts this to MPG for trip and one that gives real time MPG as you ride along. Way more info than I need, but it is there if you want it.

We road just two lanes and ended going through a small town with a large tractor show. Got hung up in a lot of stop and go traffic. Engine temp on this ran below 250 while on road, in this town, highest it got was 280. If only info I had was me sitting on it, to be honest, I felt no heat rise, whats 30 degrees between you and your bike?? I am going to have to look around on net and find out more about acceptable heat range temperatures.

Changed a whole lot of numbers in tune per Wiz, he mentioned my gas mileage, well I am not going to repeat them, no one will believe me, but Wiz, I still can not figure how mileage improves when you throw more gas at it, but it does!

You make more power which requires less throttle opening to perform the same task as before. There are folks running 120"+ engines getting 45mpg with the proper tune when their not getting wild with the throttle.

It still seems weird to me, but it works!
Any idea what engine temps should be acceptable? Have no oil temp gauge, just the engine temp on Vision tuner.

I wouldn't want to see head temps much higher than 290.

I am going to leave it mounted and will monitor the head temps, 280 is the highest I saw while in stopped and slow moving traffic. It was a warm high humility day. Riding around town yesterday it stayed between 240 - 250.
Thanks
Dennis
