Can any of the HArley wrenches help me here.

Had a little problem over the weekend on one of the Heritage Springers.



THis bike is a 2002 FI softail with no motor work.



While on a ride the speedo needle froze up and the OD went blank.
Then

The next time I used the blinker it would not turn off.

Then when stopping at an intersection the bike would sometime go dead.



The whole cycle of the above events went on and off all weekend.

Sometimes the bike showed no problems at all, sometimes off and on.



I pulled the Speedo sensor on the top of the trans and cleaned it but that did not help. MY next step is going to be to replace the spedo sensor unless I hear anything different here.



Anyone here have an idea of whats up?

Your blinkers are meshed with the speedo so that takes care of one issue.

The speed sensor would not kill the display on the speedo, only a power issue will do that.

Short? or Bad Speedo? I would look for short before replacing. Can you put that speedo on one of your other springers?

Wiz, Is there a reley or some other componet that the speedo and blinkers plugs into under the dash/tank?

I don't have a manual for the 02 softail so I don't know. I was playing with a 92 softail over the weekend but all that was mechanical. There were relay's under the console though. A wiring diagram would be your best bet. Did you download a manual from that link you posted a while back? The links are no good now.

Maybe the speedo and the main circuit breaker tripping??

Any sign of corrosion on main terminal block in dash? If so, maybe spraying with dialectric might help.
