Things are looking good for the wife and I making it to AZ.
In Kerrville, lots of nice people let me sit on their trikes to try out their aftermarket handlebars.... I've spent all summer on "back order", but the new bars go on this week.
Got a quick trip to do from Colorado to Kentucky (via cage), then it's getting ready to see you guys.....

One month to go..... We should have some very spectacular scenery. The monsoon rains have been more than we've seen in the last 14 years. Things are looking pretty green around here (for here). The forecast is for more rain in the next few days but it traditionally is all done by the end of September. Look forward to seeing everyone again and meeting some new friends. Oh, and doing some awesome riding too..... Jim
Is it normally as hot in October as it was last year? I have never been in a place that goes from cold to smoking hot so quickly.

The normal is 70's during the day and 50's at nights. Last year was extremely hot summer.
Plan on it being a bit cooler than last year. I remember several years ago leaving Springerville in normal good riding temperature. By the time I got to Alpine, I stopped to put my goose down jacket on to stay warm. We did set a lot of records last year for high temperatures. This year is more normal. I suspect we'll be riding in 60-75 degrees most of the time. Perfect!!! As we get closer, we'll know more. See y'all in a month..... Jim

New handlebars are on!!! And I have enough clearance between the bars and the tank to put the 1 1/2" tank lift back on! Got a few "test rides" to do, and we'll be ready to see everyone in Arizona!!!
Silly question. When I remote camp, I'm used to bringing gas for my trip activities. Are we gonna be hitting enough gas stations on the rides where I don't need to bring a bunch of fivers along in the trailer???

It was 44 degrees at my house this morning.
As long as "schizophrenic" is warmer, I'll be ok....

We're on the other side of the coin! Been bouncing between 85-100 degrees most days here the last week or so. Looking forward to a little Cooler weather.
(we did have one day last week that was 77 on the way to the shop, and then 76 on the way home. That was sweet)Kevin
Down here in the valley it's been close to 105 every day. A little cooling on the horizon. Look forward to the sweet smell of pine trees at 8,000 feet! Jim

seventeen days till i head out, but who's counting.
I am. Last year I split my trip into two 425+ miles per day. This year I am going to make it a 3 day trip so I can leave home sooner.

Hello Larry,
We have three days of riding October 1-3. Day 1 is the Coronado Trail, Day 2 is a short ride to Big Lake with lunch at our base camp. Day 3 is the Roosevelt Lake loop - weather permitting. If you want to come over for just one day make it for Day 1.

Thanks Kurt. After talking to my significant other, I realized that I would be in Phoenix for our son's birthday that weekend. Bummer!
I am stopping in NM to visit Trike Lady. Now I am really eager to head out to Eagar.

It looks like Temps are trending down and the entire week leading into the ride will be in the 60s during the day and high 40s low 50s overnight. It could mean we will have some spectacular riding weather.

Would like to make it, but recovering from COVID and the wife's health will not allow it.

I'm packed leaving in am. May be there Wed late or Thurs. Kurt, if I do get there on the 29the can I go down 1325 and pulloff or do I need a permit
Hi Bob,
If Kurt doesn't see your question until after you're on the road, just know there is no gate/guard or anything like that. I don't know about any permit needed. Kurt and Kevin would know. The place where they set up the base camp is about 200 yards on 1325 from the highway and on the right hand side. Good open space for lots of RVs. But you will probably have to clear out the cows..... It is open range! See you on Thursday. Have a safe trip..... Jim
