DK wind deflectors

Do they work as good as I am reading?

I have them on my 2016 Tri-Glide. I bought them in hopes of cooling the engine and maybe move the hot air from the exhaust away from my passenger.

The deflectors seemed to be the last piece of the puzzle needed to end the feeling of being in a frying pan.

They for sure direct a ton of air down to the engine while on the road. I never had an issue of too much wind in my chest or my face so I can't say the deflectors changed anything there.

They don't cost much and are easy to install.

The best part of using DK Custom parts is meeting Kevin. He's spent time (on the phone) helping me with stuff he doesn't even sell like heated gear and other things.

It doesn't take long to realize after watching his videos that this stuff is not just a job for him but a real "passion".

I'm not trying to be weird here but coming from metrics for decades, finding these forums and meeting Kevin has saved my sanity because he knew what to do to cool my Harley down. I was freaking out there for a while.

Hi Jack,

I'm not sure what you are reading, but they work very well.

We wanted to design something that reduced the amount of air hitting the rider and passenger, especially in the chest and then causing helmet or glasses to bobble.

We also wanted to redirect the air onto the engine to cool it down.

We went thru many design variations and came up with the final production units of the Cooling Deflector Wings that reduce wind coming over the top of the tank AND along the sides of the tank. For many this eliminates/reduces buffeting. It varies person to person depending on height and how they sit.

Equally important it will drop engine temps by 8-15 degrees.

Here's a really good LINK on more info that you may find useful.

cooling wings

I installed a set of the dk cooling wings yesterday. Because the installation instructions are not clear at all, I first installed them upside down. I went for a ride and I was pretty impressed with them as the wind blowing around my face and helmet was considerably reduced also I could hear my GPS much clearer. As I was riding I looked down at them and realized DUH you put them on upside down you dummy. I went home, phoned DK about which side was which. They were totally helpful and told me which side was which (I whish they would stamp a R and a L on them for people like me) I then removed them and put them on the right way. I now notice no difference in the wind on my face with them on or off and can not hear my GPS as clearly. I am now putting them back on upside down again and going for another ride. As I live in Canada it is now cold outside so I can not tell if they are benefiting any cooling but I will find out in 8 months when we get warm weather again. I have also put on the 1.5 inch tank lift with the deluxe option and the external breathing package and the extended floorboard pakage I am very impressed with all the products from DK and also impressed with their service and shipping
