Harley changed the way the ignition and accessory functions work on the CVO models several years ago. Not sure exactly when but I think it came in with the Rushmore changes. My 2017 CVO Limited had this change.
Specifically the knob on the dash no longer functions to activate the ignition or accessory functions. Instead the engine run / stop switch on the handlebar handles the ignition. Put it in the run position and ignition activates. Put it in stop position and engine stops running and ignition shuts down. Accessory function is activated by holding the ‘trigger’ switch for a couple seconds. Same to deactivate.
I recently learned from a friend that non-CVOs can be ‘flashed’ by the dealer to function this way and I had my 2024 TG flashed for this feature. I like it because I always shut down the engine with the run /stop switch and now that kills everything. You no longer have to worry about leaving the ignition on and running down the battery.
I know some prefer to stop the engine with the knob and may not want to do this. But if you are interested check with your dealer. My charge was for a half hour labor and took less than that.
