cost for tune -- stock 2013 tri glide ?

Don't know what a General tune, Means
I have an 11 T/G with about 30 thousand miles and all I do is Change oil [3 holes] with Synthetic, And adjust the clutch... Still have the original plugs..

whats a tune cost for a stock bike. Is the " general " tune an h.d. dealer gives you, worth the money?

If you are talking a downloaded tune it's not worth much. If you are spending 200-300 at the dealer you might as well buy your own tuner and adjust the tuning map yourself. Most members on this site are using the TTS, it's very good but requires the use of a computer to interface it with the trike. Another option is the Power Vision PV-1 for a 2013 TG. It is easier to use and if you are only talking stock or Stage 1 it will give you a very nice tune. Either way once you own the tuner you can do mods like exhaust, air cleaner or even cams and always tune the trike for best performance given the mod status.
There are also many comments under tuning or cooling your bike. Do a site search and you will see all the options that members have used to gain power and reduce heat.

Hope this helps.

rhino has got it figured out. ThumbUpThumbUpThumbUp

I guess I'm in a small group that are happy with their stock Harley [both of them], I guess I'm like rhino, both of mine are stock, I drive them and all I do is change the fluids and adjust the clutch, they have plenty of power and will cruise with any of them.
I get the feeling that if some here were to buy a new 2015 Corvette Z51 2lt the 1st. thing they would want to do is an exhaust mod, adj. the tuning map, a TTS, a power vision, and put bigger tires on the rear, and turn the ones on the front around backwards and change the air filter, all these things to give their. Vett. more power then all the others out there :qpnmt:.
You cannot compete with the Harley engineers, why make all these after market people rich ? just makes since to me to save all that money for more important things in life, like beer and wild women :D.
But!..I'm for what ever makes everyone happy ;).

The problem is, Harley engineers have to work within the confines of EPA requirements. The best tune for a cooler and much stronger running motor is not the factory tune and who doesn't want to run cooler and have a bike that is running to its full potential. I had an '04 Dodge Dually 5.9 Cummings HO that I thought ran pretty strong, until I installed a tuner. Not only did it run like a scalded dog, it got better fuel economy and pulled much stronger. A good tune will wake up any motor and put a big grin on your face.

You are right Bazooka, but so does GM and all the other M/C co's.
I feel that Harley is part blame along with other co's, they all are trying to out do the other with larger ci eng's every three or four years, one will come out with a 74 ci, the other will come out with a 80 ci and so on until now their up to 103. 110, and 111, and their wt. at around 900 lbs and so much crap [plastic cowling] that little air can even get to the eng. to help cool it at idle.

I remember years ago when a 650 cc motor and a bike that's wt. was around 350 lbs, had plenty of power, I cant remember the dates but Triumph motor cycle held the worlds M/C speed rec. [over 200mph] for many years with a 650cc with carb's.

I really think were going see smaller M/C in the future, they have all reached the end in size and ci.

I also think if the M/C ind. had stuck with the smaller ci. eng. that they would not have to put up with the EPA, and with todays hi-tech world those 650cc eng would put out just as much power as these small air-craft eng. they use in M/C 's today, ...Just some thoughts. Sorry about rambling on ;).

:Agree: Yup!! 100 percent accurate!!

Thats why we live in a democratic society so we can get what makes us happy for the most part. As long as what I do doesn't effect you great. The aftermarket keeps alot of people in business.

Gorilla,
If your talking about my post, you need to go back to post number 8 and read it again, maybe a little slower this time, tell me what part you don't understand, why so thin skin :kpzxvq:.

:Agree:I wouldn't be surprised to see a 120" engine in the CVO line for 2016 and maybe the 110 being offered in the other touring bikes. The aftermarket is alive and well, the S&S T143 twin cam looks to be a real beast http://www.sscycle.com/go-fast-showcase/motorcycle-engines/t143-motorcycle-engine/.

If they do go that big do you think they will have to go to a real liquid cooled eng. and with a larger radiator, and do away with the small ones in the lowers ?
If they do I guess that will leave Indian with the only air cooled M/C made in the US [larger bikes], and as new as they are I doubt if their ready to change from their 111 ci. Yet.... Don't know ?

I for one am glad to see Harley producing bigger, more powerful engines. The days of the anemic 58 HP vtwin needed to go away. Now if they can build in more reliability and less heat they will stay ahead of Indian and Victory.

D.... Welcome to the site.

The average cost to tune a stock late model Harley is between 300 and 480 bucks. This will depend on who you take it to. There is another cost for the tuning device. A flash type tuner will cost about 400 bucks ( - + )

I prefer the TTS.

When you tune a stock late model Harley you will cool the bike down (a little) improve efficiency and the bike will have better pulling power. It will not help the heat from the right side of the exhaust where the catalytic converter lives if you have a 2010 and later bike.

I did hear rumors (you know how that goes!!) that the MOCO is working on a de-tuned/streetable 120 with better street manners. However, was not a very credible source - i.e. local HD Technician!!

Since I dumbed down the cams in my 120r crate motor to make it have better street manners, I really like the change.

162 HP...that is a beast!

Yes it is, here is a dyno sheet from one which was tuned not long ago. The guy who tuned it is a bit arrogant, but he is pretty good.

I think the 120 would be still doable with the present Rushmore setup.

Your rumors are correct, I come across material on it but neglected to save it, now I can't find it again. If I remember right it uses the 259E cams and is 50 state legal.

M3... I was told the same thing at the HD Dealer the other day. They think it will show up in Trikes and CVO Ultras.. A 120 with the 259E... You could pull a 4 bottom plow with that.

Especially once it has been tuned properly, as it will come from the MoCo it will be gutted to comply with emissions. The 110 doesn't wake up until someone has massaged the tune, then it finally acts like a larger engine.
