Coil over adjustment

I'm a little embarrassed to admit this but I'm not sure how to adjust the shocks on my 2017 Roadsmith conversion of my '97 Valkyrie....Also, which setting is softest (?)

If you will look at the bottom area of the shock you will see a stair step with five notches in it. The notch closest to the bottom is the softest setting with preload increasing with each notch until you reach maximum at number five; or whatever the top notch is.

There is a spanner wrench you can use to make the adjustment by twisting the notched ring to the next position. I had much better luck using a large pair of channel locks.

It will also make it easier if you will jack the trike up to reduce the weight on the spring. Tires don't have to be off the ground but just touching for stability if you don't have a wide, stable jack or jack stands. That said it would be wise to put jack stands under the rear just in case the jack slips or comes down.

I had no luck with the spanner wrench but a pair of channel lock pliers worked for me
