We are still in our adventure from December 8th and right now we are in New Mexico. Cool with slight snow, not like the Northeast.
CA was a lot better with temperatures from 79 F to the 40's F. I could take that year round!
From NM, we may be going to Colorado to visit a relative who lives there, then to Florida, then to the Cold Tundra, as Leo says! We should be in NH by the March timeframe.
Hope everybody is having a good day. Stay hydrated as you shovel snow and take it easy on your back, right Warren!
Bruce, you and Deb watch out, there is a cold snap coming your way in Florida!

Well it's a chilly 27* in Linden,N.J., right now. I'm getting ready to watch tv and deliver in the morning. Would love to load and get out before the next big snow...but no freight around right now. Looks like heading down to the Petro in Bordentown and hunkering down. That's when a 120" sleeper comes in handy, room to chase Miles around in
Bordertown, between 295 & 95, looked it up on a Google maps. Hope you have a comfy night and don't let the bedbugs bite!
Your Freightliner, is it the square nose or the new Volvo design, with the slope nose, which everyone of the rigs are going to. Boy, even the new Peterbuilts have the slope nose. Question, Is it for better mileage or air flow over the cab?

Bozo you need to come check the calibration on my thermo-meter, it's stuck on -7 this morning.
Rosy, my oldest son works in the test department at the Kenworth truck plant, where they are producing 124 trucks per day, bumping it up to 128 March 1st. The engineers are working on one of the models to try to get a 4% increase in fuel mileage. If they can accomplish their goal, one of the major truck lines will place an order for 15,000 new units over a three year period.

kwputt, boy that's great news for truckers. Is it a body design change or a mechanical change to the motor and drive train? I am sure he can't say, till the news conference is made.
Back in the days when I was working we had industrial spy from Europe trying to steal our formulas to our foam systems. We found out about it and told the US Government and they went after him, but he got away, back to Germany.
I bet the other trucking companies would love to find out how they are going to do it so they can use the technology.
Hey, get that thermometer fixed so it will read above freezing soon! We want spring to come soon, but Phil said No, another six weeks! I am going to shoot that rodent! LOL

There is a big push for "gas" trucks and buses. Our landfill provides methane gas to the university for heating all of the college and the buses they use for area transportation.
On our adventure so far since December, I have traveled from mid CA to New Mexico, back to Mid CA, to southern CA, and back to New Mexico and I have seen thousands of trucks on the road. Some of the aero equipment they are using is something else. From the side panels under the trailer to the box extensions by the rear doors, and the fully enclosed cab to get better air flow around the rig.
I am sure they will be work with Kevlar to get more weight off the trucks. Look at Ford, they will be making the F150 out of aluminum to reduce truck weight. I believe the whole truck will be made of aluminum. I think they said 700#s off the F150, that's a lot.
I have seen some concept trucks with the whole truck built like one unit rolling down the highway. It looks strange next to the "old" rigs, but they say they would get better mileage.

22* in Greencastle,Pa., pick up a 14' piece of boom section for a crane going to the Bronx as in NYC.. Can't get my over length permit till Friday, and that depends on the storm, where will I sit? :xzqxz: The life of a trucker :xszpv: Might not deliver till Monday, only going 244 mies, glad it pays REAL good!
14' requires an over length, WOW..what length is your trailer 12'! LOL :Shrug::Shrug:
Will they let you sleepover in their parking lot? No choice, right!

My overall length is 74'3", the piece is only 14' on my trailer. NYC requires a permit for any thing over 65' on surface streets, inside the city limits. You also need to hire an licsensed escort for the trip in, not the trip out, but you do need a permit in and out. Can you say revenue generation!
Needless to say I don't turn on a dime, getting out of the truck and taking a trip up to the north-east in the Stallion is a big difference :10:

Are you going to bring your trailer wheels in so you can make tighter turns? Those city street can be narrow.
Wow, story time: set up a gambling trip to Atlantic City on two buses from NH. Bus drivers didn't know the route and took wrong turns and ended up going into NYC. The cabbies were yelling and giving them sign language that I can not print as the buses took two to three lanes to make their turns. I sat there and laughed my head off.
