Chat Room

Boy, I tell you what, if you are shoveling this new heavy stuff, take your time and hydrate a lot. Horror stories are everywhere when storms like this happens, people go out to shovel and never come back.
I'll tell you one:
Four neighbors down from me went out to shovel the driveway, he was elderly and she had Alzheimer's disease. Our mail carrier Jackie found him in the snow bank, so she ran into the house to call 911, the lady couldn't tell Jackie where the phone was so she ran next door and used theirs. The spouse had forgotten he had gone out so she didn't miss him at all. He never made made.
Two things were learned from this: I tell Janice where I am going so she is aware and can check on me once in a while. The other was Jackie, she told me she went out that same day and bought a cell phone, for just in case.
Again, take it easy, rest a lot and keep hydrated.

Several years ago we were up in Sault Ste Marie in the Michigan UP visiting the in-laws and looking to get in some King Salmon and Steelhead fishing. We arrived just in time for a major snow storm and I learned you don't go anywhere up there without survival gear! My brother-in-law kept food, blankets, snow suits, heat pacs, etc in his truck and never left home without that gear. Said a number of folks are lost every year from not being prepared.

48* and clear in Dixie

Just got the power back. Been out sine around 8 AM. I consider myself very lucky to have it back this soon! Snow is wet and heavy and I'll probably loose quite a few of the bushes and som trees as well. Did some shoveling and now I'm completely sore. Done for the day, lol. ;)

CCrider,
Looks like you had a bad hair day! Yup, sitting waiting for Janice to come home so we can go out to eat with her cousin to The Rusty Hammer, in Portsmouth, NH. Good cheap food, but nothing like John and skuuter have to eat, WOW!

After bing "snowed in" all day we took advantage of the cleared roads and went out to get a bite to eat. Yummy Caprese salad and a hearty bowl of black bean soup for me, a burger and fries for Mike. Both happy and content with full bellies.

Despite getting about 10" of snow overnight, we are thrilled to have a forecast for 60º on Sunday. WooHoo!!!!!

Tony-T-of Ive,
You know you don't live to far from where I used to work in Georgia. We had a plant in Americus and I used to go there all the time.
Hot as the hills in the summer time but a nice place. I remember it was
120 F in the plant at about 2AM, Wow, that was hot.
Small world!
