Yesterday a friend who just bought a new TG and I were trying to set up a CB channel but couldn't figure how to do it. I don't have my owners manual here at the office and I'm trying to figure out how to change the CB channels. Can someone post here on how to do it.<br />
Thanks.

Friend just bought a new TG...a 2016? Probably should read his/her owner's manual or take to dealer and have service show how to change the CB channel.

Curious :AGGHH:I know you can order them do they come with them? just sayin! r:Shrug:ide safely fearless

From the 2016 manual

TUNING CB CHANNELS

The CB radio can access all 40 channels. While on the CB
screen, press the PREVIOUS/NEXT hand control to advance
through the CB channels individually. Channels can only be
changed while in the CB screen.

My 2014 came with the manual on CD, but I lost that. The complete manual for the Infotainment system can be downloaded in pdf format from the H-D website. Go to Owners, log in (you did register, didn't you? It makes a world of information available) and look around a little (I had to, but I forget exactly where now); it is not too difficult to find. Having a pdf file makes it easy to find what you are looking for and then print it out if you need to.

I know I'm highjacking this a little but I was wondering what channel you use on your CB when out on the road? I've used channel 5 and channel 1 when riding with small group rides but seem like I can't get anyone when out riding down the road.

Push button at 45 degree.

Thanks Zammy, you're the only one to answer my question.
I was at my office and didn't have the manual otherwise I would have looked it up.

Ed, I noticed that too. I just got back from Sturgis - 5 days on the road and I didn't hear one CB transmission. I was on chn 19. I asked for a radio check at least once a day - no answer.

I just got my bike back after 5 tries to fix the CB. It worked fine the day before I left for Sturgis so I know it worked.

I did hear a couple transmissions while I was in Rapid City, but I didn't have my mic connected so I couldn't tell if they were receiving me.

I was told by a couple people that they are using cell phones now. How can that be? Does every trucker have every single phone number of every other trucker?????? Not likely.

I drive a truck and you're absolutely right - there's almost no one on the radio these days - and it's all due to cell phones, xm radio, and GPS.

How do any of those let one trucker talk to another trucker???

Cars/trucks have always had radios and that didn't interfere with talking on a CB radio.

A GPS may answer some questions that would have been asked on a CB, but completely eliminating CB communications? I don't think so.

The cell phone would work -IF - they had the others phone number and that's impossible.

I've asked this question on a few other forums and still haven't received an answer other then "Nobody uses CB's anymore". OK, I get, but what are they using? Some truckers say they only turn theirs on when they are looking for local information. They keep it of because of all the swearing, racist crap, stupid jabbering, etc. transmissions.
So if everyone keep their CB off except for info, how do they get that info? I'm still in the dark.

At least I and all my chapter members still use the CB so it wasn't a complete loss and that's more important then on the highway usage.

I'm still looking for the answer. :D

We use our cb's all the time.
We find there is a lot of obnoxious transmissions out there and don't appreciate it at all. We don't find any useful info being transmitted except between us and our group - if you can get in between the useless gibberish with their super powerful rigs transmitting all over everyone. Squelch won't even block some of it. We much preferred the JandM bike to bike units because only the 2 of us were communicating with only each other. Then we began to ride with groups and had to switch to CB. OH well, it is what it is.

I think there is a cell phone app that's basically an online chat session that any trucker, or anyone else for that matter, can use just like they did with their CB. Personally, I like the less traffic except I get much more Mexican junk now.

I was curious about this answer, so I asked a trucker buddy of mine. His response is He keeps his Galaxy peaked and tuned, it has saved his a@@ plenty of times. He says mostly the old school drivers use them. He also said the 2016 trucks dont even prewire for the cb anymore. I found that interesting

What's a Galaxy?? Can it contact any vehicle on the road? Is that some type of cell phone?

How hard can it be to install a CB??? I didn't even know trucks were pre-wired for a CB. It is such an easy thing to do, even I installed a CB in my car and I'm very gadget challenged.

A friend of mine said the truckers are using single side band radios now. Whatever that is. I don't know much about those.

Still haven't heard a definitive answer yet. Have truckers completely stopped talking to each other?

I have talked to truckers on Ch 19 but I don't care for most of what they are talking about. I was told by some other who rode bike and trikes thy use Ch 5 or Ch 1. The last TT gathering we at the group leader used Ch 1. During the ride there were at least four of us that had CB's and we were spread out and we all had a great time being able to talk to each other. I have tried these channels going down the road and get very little.

Our chapter uses channel 4. I was on 19 all the way to Sturgis and back = nothing/no transmissions at all - just crickets. I'll try 5 and 1.
Is 9 still for emergencies only? Maybe I'll try that one.
