Cb error with csc viper kit

I was reading in the Wing World magazine in Stu's Q&A section. Someone wrote in that CSC Viper conversion kits have an inherent problem with the way the trunk is mounted directly to the new conversion trunk/fender unit and NOT the frame as originally done causing "Error" message on the CB radio due to a bad ground. I have not gotten that particular message but I did notice that ever since I had it converted that sometimes when I get closed to something large like a side of a tractor trailer or gas pumps the CB goes into RX mode and screeches until I pull away. The fix stated in the magazine was to run new grounds to the frame from both antennas.
Anyone have this issue with CSC Viper kits (or any other kits after conversions) and does my issue seam to be caused by a bad ground?

Have not heard of the issue but the fix is one I would do anyway. If the antennas do not have a good ground they will function poorly. The only other cure would be to have a non-ground plane CB antenna mounted. They use the shield in the coax cable as the ground plane. There are not many out there and they are ugly.

When I bought my GL1800 Roadsmith I had the installer install a CB for me. When the trike arrived from GA I saw that there was no ground wire on the CB antenna so I just put a ground wire going from the base of the antenna to a ground point in the trunk. I used the same ground point as if it were installed with the metal strap that came from the factory.

i have a 2014 goldwing with the CSC viper conversion kit which was factory installed.

I can tell you that the large bolts mounting the tour box are not grounded as they were
when the bike was a two wheeler. The CSC factory ran a ground strap from the CB
and AM/FM radio antennas to the main frame. You could check to see that these
antenna mounts have a small braided wire attached.

What your problem sounds like is some interference is causing your squelch to open
and you are hearing squelch noise until you pull away from the interfering signal.

If you hear the noise at a gas pump try to increase the squelch adjustment. If the
noise goes away when you increase the squelch setting you do not have a problem.
Just temporary interference.

Thanks for your response. I do have the strap you mentioned. I guess they did something right after all. If I could do it over again I would stay at a hotel and have the factory do my conversion. I don't think I will ever trust another conversion shop.
