I have a 2001 1800 goldwing. I started having trouble setting the cruise. I took the switch apart ,cleaned contacts, applied contact grease. Then I put it back together and then noticed one of the wires was broken off!!! Can a person solder the wire back on or am I totally screwed!!!!! Help!!! Stoner!!:gah:

If you can see the contact it broke off of, you should be able to solder it as long as there is enough metal sticking out to attach the wire to.

Well I was able to solder the wire back on. But it still will not work when I try to set the cruise!! Any other good ideas? Stoner!!!

Have you checked the switches on the clutch and brake lever? I had a buddy who went bonkers trying to find his issue and it ended up being the switch on the brake lever. He could hear it "click" when he first started pulling the lever & assumed it was good but it wasn't actually making contact.

with a test light shouldn't one of the two wires going to the clutch lever be hot? I tried both wires even with the key on, and no juice???????:gah:

Sometimes a lose/hanging wire will blow a fuse.... Might be worth a look...

I don't know Goldwings that well, but it may not necessarily be a power signal. Could work off of ground too. That's one reason I check continuity between the contacts on the switch, that way I know if the switch is working regardless.

I just took a quick look at the '06 manual I have on my computer. Looks like there are two signal loops from and returning to the ECU If either get interrupted the cruise kicks off.

I'd check out switches before moving on. :xszpv: :xszpv:
