Brakes or no brakes on a sidecar?

I'm new to sidecars and I'm still shopping.

It appears that some have a brake and some do not.

Do I really need a brake on the sidecar wheel?

Lot depends on size and weight of sidecar and size of bike. good idea to have one but if it is a small rig not a big deal you will wear out pads a little faster. On my 750 Stret rig no sidecar brake never needed one on it. I am no fan of the cable brake setups.
