Hey All, Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and all our pants still fit. I have a problem, Hope someone has an answer. I have a MotorTrike conversion on a 03 RK. The kit came with two tombstone taillights with 1157 bulbs. I replaced them with LED tombstone lights and I added a running/brake light strip under lic. plate. My prob is I keep blowing fuses. HD had a 15 installed from factory everything worked great went for ride got home no brake lights. Replaced fuse same thing tried a 20,25,30 same results. All connections are tight ,soldered and waterproofed. Sometimes it happens early in ride other times it happens after hours of riding. I'm at a loss. Sure would appreciate some advise. Thanks Steve

Hi Steve.
The first thing I would do is check out the actual wires from the fuse to the lights for any nicks in the insulation. It sounds like the hot wire is contacting a ground somewhere before the lights (meaning the physical LEDS themselves, could be in the fixture). Check any strain reliefs, places where it could rub against the frame, etc.
A tie-wrap that is too tight could pinch the wire through the insulation. If you can have someone hold the brake on, try moving the wires around to see if you can narrow down the area.

Hope tome of this helps.

as often as suggested undo what you done to see if you broke it. I would suggest that you disconnect the run/brake strip first and see if the fuse holds up. By the way go back to the standard fuse. If it still blows remove the taillights you did something wrong there.

:Agree: Increasing fuse size is just asking for an electrical fire.

:Agree: do not go higher with the fuses as you are asking for more trouble.
start removing what you put in and see if that solves the problem as others have stated..ThumbUp

Gotta agree with what everyone else here has said. One question though, did you verify what color wire does what on the added lights AND on the trike? I worked on a friends Motor Trike a while back and on his, the green wire was ground and black was running (which is bass ackwards from everything else I've ever seen). Just a thought?
