Hi everyone,

We just adopted a 2000 Harley Ultra Classic with a 2003 Motor Trike kit on it. The front end is not raked. We are debating the cost vs. benefit of raking and I would appreciate any input you have...especially before and after thoughts!

Thanks,
moonstar

Alot depends on where U live and where U think U are going to drive the trike.. If U drive a lot on twisties and curves then the rake will help.. If U are going to drive just on regular roads it will not help as much....
This is one of those subjects that everyone has their own mind made up on...
We have a 2000se Goldwing trike and it is not raked, I am very happy with it this way. Someone else might not be as happy.
Good luck.
I am sure others will chime in.. in fact check the board there is already a thread on here about adding the rake..

I agree w/ katfish....the rake is not right or wrong. I will say that as a woman rider, I would not be without it. I test-drove a trike without it and the difference with it is phenomenal! Also, it seems to me that, although many are very happy without it, everyone who gets the rake says they wish they had done it sooner! LOL!

Moonstar, I have a 2007 Road Glide with a Champion Conversion. I raked it 4.5 degrees with a Liberty Side Car rake kit. I have rode 6 thousand miles since I built the trike in December and have rode trikes both with and without a rake. I am 62 YOA and I have good upper body strength. All that being said I am glad to have the rake. It makes a big difference on those long rides. Ted

I rode one 4000 miles without being raked. The first 500 got me in shape.

I am very glad I had my new bike raked. Not much of a chore to drive and relax.

Mine is very responsive. When I first got it installed, I was putting down the road and sneezed and about jerked the bike off the road:(

It's hard not to enjoy the ride either way.
