Our SIL Tony was riding his '77 Shovelhead coming home from dinner th other night when he had an encounter with a deer. The deer came across the road into the left lane and Tony changed lanes to the right but then the deer decided he didn't want to go that direction and started back where he came from. Not a good result, after the impact he laid the bike down on the left side, Tony has a broken wrist, broken cheek bones and quite a few cuts and bruises, some requiring stitches, good thing he was dressed for riding. I think the bike fared much better but is definitely going to need some work, but the deer didn't make it.

Coulda been worst....Lucky it wasn't, When those woods rats run in front there's no telling which way they'er going to turn... :gah:....Hopefully Tony is a fast healer....

Godspeed to Tony in his healing/recovery.

Hopefully he got to have some fresh venison outta the deal?

The bike is hopefully only cosmetically damaged and can be made whole again, in time...

Tony, God was with him but his Guardian Angel must have been on a break.

Praying for his quick recovery and healing.

There is no V-Twin for human body parts.

Those youngsters will sneak up on ya ! Plus there real active this time of the year.

Prayers sent :prophet:.

Glad your SIL wasn't hurt amy worse than he was and heals quickly. Lifted one up for him. Dang deer are everywhere.

Thank you all, I will pass your thoughts along. No deer meat kept, he has no way of processing it and really doesn't care for the taste but it was donated to their local shelter. The bike has already made it's way to the repair shop, so far it looks like around 5K to get it back in riding shape. Some of these older Harley parts are hard to come by and expensive. He goes back to his orthopedic guy next week to see if needs a screw in his wrist or not, if the bone isn't displaced, then just another cast. Nothing was displaced in his face, just cracked so no surgery required there, thank goodness.

Zammy sorry to here your son was injured we will keep you and your's in our thoughts and prayers. I hit a Collie Dog in 74 put me in the hospital for 9 day's no fun. Than goodness the injuries were not more severe. Fred/Jeanne

He got the semi-hard cast removed yesterday and is just in a soft cast that he can remove during the day if needed, the x-ray he shared showed the bones in his hand are healing nicely. He's still a little shallow around the lower part of the eye socket but it's improving as the weeks go on.

He has procured a front fender and a couple of other small parts he needs but winter has set in and he has no heat in the garage living in northern Illinois so it will sit for the winter.

Thanks for the inquiry Frank
