Back ordered part.

I don't think its the switch either, but when its under warranty you have to let them play ball but under your supervision. The Tech that's working on it is a senior tech whom I have personally known for over 20 years and very good at what he does, when he told me that the new bikes are a pain in the %&@ to work on because almost everything electrical runs threw the ECM I had a feeling this was going to take some time to track down. And we all know that Harley is well known for not wanting to admit that there is a issue.

Some of the problem is that Tech's are mostly mechanical guys, not computer programmers. And at least they deny there is a problem instead of blaming it on you like BMW does.:Joker3:

I'm on a few forums, And someone will chime in to say that they know someone;;i.e., A friends uncles sister's brother ;) whose dealer is their Dutch Uncle' Raised the idle for them..As per ''Harley's'' instructions, But in till they can post a Bulletin # Or an update # from Harley.....

It sounds like there's a problem in the program in the ecm. Is there a software update available?

I think yes and no

Until enough yell about it the MOCO will pick and chose

I have my PV tuner set @ 950 for my base idle it works good

I rarely see below 905 even with the heat soaked days

Before resetting the idle I did see the idle drop a few times

I guess I spend too much time looking at the screen:p

There isn't a problem with the ECM per say....Its set the way the EPA wants it set so the M8 engine can be certified.........Is there an update, Not yet at least and like i said before with a Bulletin/Update Number.....

According to the tech it has the latest and greatest ECM update, and I asked the tech if he could bump the idle up and he said he asked the mother ship about that and they said no.Now whether or not he could is another question, but if HD says no and he does it anyway its on him.At my place of employment doing something like that could end in termination so I wouldn't ask him to.Will just have to go thru the process until the warranty runs out then do the air cleaner gutted head pipe and PV download.

Same here, One of the owners of the dealership asked Harley for me, And the answer was a flat-out No!....The dealership has been in the same exact location and same owners [Family] since 1956..So they know who to call...

Sounds like someone with a good knowledge of programming could make a nice pile by offering an invisible reflash that fixed this and other problems brought on by the EPA.

Old calibration 41000481A

New calibration 41000481B

The NEW calibration is supposed to take care of this issue

However The MOCO is sayin for stage ! only?

Ok found out something today i didn't know.I pictured this clutch safety switch similar to the brake light switch. But its different,it is built into the group of switches on the left housing so when it is replaced it will come with all the new switches. And this and all electrical components run thru the ECM and the BUS system. The service writer whom i have known for many years and trust said they had a guy bring his bike in because it threw a code and the turn signals wouldn't work, they guy put a bulb in backwards, this is how integrated these new systems are.The Techs just hate working on them. And he also said HD is getting worse on what they want to cover.

I can't let that one go.... Please'' No offense meant or intended ...But how can that be done..?

In the hands of a wrong guy in a hurry I have seen this

The can bus system does NOT like most things older systems would allow

This is another reason the new switches are integrated

It is cheaper and faster 4 the tech to grab a new switch pak and be done, The connectors make it plug and play

Very similar to what the Auto Industry did years ago

JMO of how HD is slowly evolving ( about time)

What kind of weird light bulb is it?

I bet it was a wrong voltage bulb

I have seen dou contact bulbs like 1157 jammed in wrong as well as 1156 single contacts in the wrong holes, not much of an excuse now since most of the bulbs are flat blade However different voltage comes to mind here?

I am a tool and die maker for the company i work for,we build all the the new tooling and fixtures along with repairing these for the production side of the business, now let me tell ya i have seen stuff that even baffles me sometimes.I will ask the person bringing it to me,HOW IN THE H%&^ DID YOU DO THIS,and the response is huh i dont know it just broke.

Our favorite saying in the tool room is,just when we think we have made something idiot proof they hire better idiots.
