Avon Trike Tire?

Looked everywhere but the Avon trike tire for a Goldwing seems to be unobtanium AGAIN. This happened a few years ago when I needed to replace the front tire on my Roadsmith conversion. I just can't figure out why Avon doesn't keep churning these tires out. I don't care to put rear tires on mounted backwards and have a standard radial on the front and it didn't wear well... Excedra with Z speed rating (too soft I guess) and won't make that mistake again.
These are back in stock at Wingstuff & J&P Cycles.

Nice to see supply starting to move in and that after a few hours of being advertised, are still in stock. Looks like though it's just the radial 130/70R18 and not the 16" Harley trike tire. Also RevZilla and Cyclegear which are part of the same company as JP Cycle. So it must be more than just a handful of tires arriving from overseas. Many other big tire retailers are still showing out of stock. Hopefully they will soon be stocked as well.

They are still priced a bit high for my liking though. Since I'm not in desperate need, I'm going to sit back and see if more retailers start getting a supply. That should help bring prices down a bit, 🤞. I would be in at low or sub $200. One thing to mention, when buying a tire direct from Cyclegear, they will do the install for a reasonable cost ($30) if you bring the wheel in. And since Revzilla and JP Cycles are also part of Cyclegear, if you buy from them, you can take the wheel to a Cyclegear store and get the $30 mounting deal.

Avon front trike tire is back in stock at Wingstuff & J&P Cycles.
I ordered 1 last night.
Thanks - saw them for $265. Hummm, still think I may go with the BT46 backwards. Avon has to get the message that their delay and cost is not something I am willing to pay. BT46 is $150.

Can also get a Bridgestone front tire for $158

I just picked one up from Dennis Kirk for $195 with taxes and shipping

You may have picked up the wrong one. They have the Trike tire in 130/70-18 listed at $274.88. The MT90-16 is listed at $225.88. And both show out of stock. The regular AV-91 for Goldwings (130/70 bias belted) is listed at $190.88 but that isn't their "trike" tire and now shows out of stock. The regular AV-91 MT90-16 is listed at $175.88.

When you get it, make sure it actually says "TRIKE" in raised black letters on the sidewall. Otherwise it's not the right tire.

Just looked at the order and it looks like you are correct.
Guess that one will be going back.

Thanks
Bob

You're not the first person that's done that. They really should use a different product number for the trike tires because it's easy to get confused.

Great suggestion! Cause I also made the same mistake last year!

My daughter bought an Avon trike tire for me for Christmas (she went in with her two sisters I think). They had promised to send her an email when the tire was back in stock and didn't. When she bought the tire last week Dennis Kirk only had 5 left in stock. Will get the front tire off, change brake pads and get the wheel over to Bandera and have it mounted and balanced some time after Christmas. Old tire is serviceable until then. Avon's way of doing business has me a bit confused and wish another tire manufacturer would also produce a trike front tire to give them some competition and perhaps motivation to do better.

Yep, I think we all agree.

Looks like a lot of us are going with the BT46 rear tire and mounting it backwards (your choice to mount it backwards).
