AVON COBRA 71 TRIKE Believer !!

You guys are just too fast... Here I was all loaded with information and danged if it wasn't already here!! :xzqxz::cxtv::xszpv::xszpv:

BTW, I still a believer. Every time I ride, I'm more convinced this was a smart move!!!

I have been following all the threads about the Avon Trike tire and really appreciate the comments about them. I was hoping to wait till Wing Ding to see what kind of prices they were going for but it seems that my MPA is wearing faster than planned. I ordered one this morning from Motorcycle Superstore for $130.99 and free three day shipping. I priced them at six different local dealers and was amazed at the prices ranged from $160 plus tax to $262 plus tax. Nobody had them in stock and a couple didn't even know they had a trike specific tire. Avon's preferred dealer said his price was $139 and he wanted $165, and the dealer that wanted $262 is $21 over MSRP. Around here the mounting price on the bike is between $82 and $92 but if I carry the wheel in it is $25. I haven't removed a front wheel from a 1800 before so I will check out some videos and decide if that is something I want to tackle. I also went around to some local tire shops today checking out what is available for rear tires so will have to spent some time checking out comments and decide what I want to buy for the rears.

3 day shipping only took 1 1/2 days. They had one in Chicago warehouse, 180 mi away. Came by noon, installed by 3pm. Only had time to go around the block, ride was about the same, tread width used was 4" in vs 3" for the BS. Will have to ride longer to evaluate cornering. Maybe tomorrow

Saw Catfish post clarifying the price, Superstore price at $130.99 was better than my Dennis Kirk at $145, so I guess my next Cobra will be from the Superstore

Received my new Avon Cobra Trike tire yesterday; ordered it on Monday. Now it will lay in the garage quietly while I wear the old Avon down to the nub. Just wanted to be sure I had a fresh one for the Fall riding season. :D

Be Prepared, so mh, how many miles on the Cobra Trike Tire on the RS now? Or maybe a better question, how many miles do you have left?

I've got 8,000 on it now. Last tire got a little over 9 kmiles and I think this one will too. Two up, heavy, and Arkansas twisties eat them up pretty quick. Plus a trip to Tenn. and N.C. running the Dragon and Moonshiner pulling a trailer to boot.

All bikes/trikes here wear tires quickly so the Avon is close to the MPA and BT-45's I had before. But, for the ride and handling I will stick with the Avon unless something better comes along.

A Little off the Subject

Just curious if the Avon Trike Tire has the same disclaimer that Dunlop has against anything being put in their tire besides air? Speaking of "Ride On" being allowed or not by Avon.

How does one correct the Header? Meant to say "off" the subject

Another question, I understand that the Avon Trike Tire has been in production for 2 years this month, would like to know if the Avon is giving good mileage. My MPA was put on in 2006 and I have 37,000 miles on it. Other than the hard ride, it is a great tire and the mileage is great. No cupping and there are many more miles left in that tire but due to age and safety, I will have to let it go. If the Avon is only good for about 10k miles or even 15k, I may have to grin and bare it and go with

another MPA. Cost does enter into the picture. Dunlop original gave me 10K

The guarentee is only good if you have it installed by their approved installers/dealers. I use Ride On.

Mileage should be better in your area.

The roads in Texas and Arkansas have lots of twisties and a rough surface that eats tires
