Planning trip to Arkansas again this year (went last year to see colors and drive the scenic roads for week but trees were not changing).

But we want to go back this year Alma, Eureka Springs, Peels Ferry then Mountain Home and Mountain View and then back home to Kansas.
So if anyone in area can keep this thread updated maybe more people will get to Arkansas this year.
trying to wear out the 2014 Triglide.
Been to Blue Ridge Parkway, Dragon, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Colorado this year already.
Mama likes to travel.

Hi,
Just returned from a 1400+ mile ride 2 weeks ago from the St.Louis,MO. area into Arkansas to Mountaine Home.Next day did some motorcycle routes around MH.Then traveled on to Pettit Jean State Park and stayed on top the mountaine in their rustic cabins. The roads and views were next to breath taking and the trees were starting to change colors and leaves were falling a little in some areas. The lodge is so beautiful, having breakfast and dinner there with beautiful views out every window.Left there for a day ride to Crater Of Diamonds State Park and dug for diamonds for 2 hours in 100* heat.Didn't find any.Other people did.
The 150 mile ride there and back took about 7 hours due to twisty and beautiful roads.
Some of our best meals were at local gas/grocery stores, most had grills because there's nothing else around those areas.
Left for home on a Friday morning in light rain and 50* temps almost all 400 miles home.
Would do it again,great riding.

No information for this year, but we road up around the Mena AR area the last few years
10/1/2011 Fall colors hadn't started everything was nice and green..
11/10/2012 Fall colors well past everything was bare and brown...
10/20/2013 Fall colors hadn't started everything was nice and green..

I'd rather miss it on the early side if I was going to miss it.

Don't know if this will help much, but we are about 200 miles north of the Mountain Home and Mountain View area and we are just starting to change. My guess is about 10-15 more days for them to start getting color.

We have been getting a lot of rain and the temps are supposed to drop a little. My best guess would be the last week of October for the northern half of the state. The Mena area should be at peak the first week of November.

Be warned this is just a EWAG.
