Any Harley conversion HOG members here?

I have not had any negetive comments with regard to my trike or riding w/groups. However riders behind me ride with greater distance do to my tires throw more road dust

Happy Mother's Day or as we say in the Methodist Church in NZ, "Happy Home and Family Day." Now a secret, shsh, don't spread it around, BUT, but, I may have a trike birth announcement next Saturday. It will be a shop birth, not a home birth, but can't say any more except the cigars and champers have been ordered. Please pray for a fine day and that the father will be able to steer "the child" in the right direction. More later in the week when the birth will be confirmed and I will be able to go the whole HOG! It should be a Champion occasion!

I have been a member of Fox Valley HOG for over 10 years. Rode over to the HOG meeting tonight on the Trike for the first time. I am overwhelmed with the interest that there was with my Street Glide/CSC Dayton Conversion. If I wasn't riding home with a couple of friends I could have spent a lot more time answering questions. I just don't see any problems riding with the organization however, as is the case of all new things or riding, I'm sure everyone will be a little more cautious at first.

Gave ultimatum tonight, four months is wayyyyyy too long to wait for a conversion!!!!! Good news I have been welcomed back in to the Harley fold and the mechanic who pronounced I was not going to be riding a Harley has been directed accordingly. Come hell or high water the trike comes home Friday week! Took my helmet taken in today (white) to be painted partly orange, which is my HOG nick name!!! Look out world I am coming even if I do have to find another painter who doesn't take two months and three goes to paint my trike!

It is my undertstanding that trikes are usually at the rear of the group for safety reasons. A trike typically requires less room to stop than a 2 wheel bike and it is more difficult to maintain the proper stagger position with a trike, because I tend to ride in the center of the lane, or slightly to the right side. Personally, I do not like group rides, but sometimes I do ride with a group. Yes, there are certain advantages, but I prefer the independence of traveling at a speed at which I am comfortable, stopping when I want to stop, and enjoy the scenery and not constantly watching the riders in front of me for spacing, traffic lights, etc.. I have always felt accepted both on my Gold Wing trike and my Tri Glide. Hog members are just human beings and none of us are perfect. But I do strongly agree with the post which suggested the CMA! Everybody is accepted with them.

Well I don't ride a Harley, Honda, or any other established brand. I ride a Cheetah Chopper trike. 350 cu. in. Chev. motor. It will outrun and outstop any Harley. I remember back in the 60's that if you rode a bagger or a Sportster you weren't a Harley rider. My greatest moments on my Cheetah is when one of those so called bad ass Harley riders pass me with their noses in the air and the chick on the back turns and looks at me and gives me a thumbs up.

I had to switch to a trike because of the arthritis in my knees. At the York HD Plant where the TriGlides are made, the workers call trikes "boomers" because it is the Baby Boomers who are buying them. I was amazed to see hundreds of trikes at Americade this year. Two wheelers are going to be seeing more and more trikes as time goes on. I know several two wheel boomers who will be switching to three wheels very soon. :)
Sign of the times I guess.

Don't worry about "acceptance". Anybody that is worth riding with aren't going to care what you ride. Those that make remarks are'nt really bikers anyway. They are just someone who bought a bike to make them look cool and they fail in that miserably when they talk down a persons ride.
